• Henry Paulson, a member of The Nature Conservency, was the 74th United States Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush. He is also a member of the Board of Governors for the International Monetary Fund, and on the Board of Directors for the Peregrine Fund.

  On September 19, 2008, Paulson and President Bush outlined a financial rescue plan during a press conference. The plan that they laid out is part of a federal effort to contain the economic crisis. • Background

  Early in his career, Paulson was the Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense, from 1970 to 1972. From 1972 to 1973, he was the assistant to John Ehrlichman. He joined the staff of Goldman Sachs in 1974. On May 30, 2006, President George W. Bush nominated Paulson to fill in a position in the Treasury department that John W. Snow had just vacated. It wasn't until June 28, 2006, that his position was made official.
