Hello Kitty Gun

Warning

The guns described on this page are not toys!

Sanrio neither makes nor licenses a Hello Kitty gun, but several hobbyists have chosen to modify the appearance of firearms to emulate the trademark look and feel of Hello Kitty products. Both an AK-47 and an AR-15 rifle have been given the typical Hello Kitty pink color, as well as Hello Kitty-based characters on the body of the gun.

Danger to Police

Police departments have expressed concerns about the Hello Kitty guns and other guns painted to look like toys. They have said that the only purpose of modifying guns in this way is to conceal them from police officers by disguising them as toys, thus giving the advantage to the gun user. They also pose a danger to children, experts say, as they may mistake the real guns for toys and inflict harm on themselves or others. Users of the guns say they are not criminals and it is a matter of personal expression. Pink guns are popular among wives of law enforcement officers.
