Barbra Streisand stars in the 1969 film version of Hello, Dolly!, adapted from a much loved Broadway musical. Directed by Gene Kelly, the movie musical won three Academy Awards but is still considered a financial misstep that changed the direction of filmmaking in the 1970s.
Plot Synopsis
In Hello, Dolly!, Horace Vandergelder, played by Walter Matthau, hires matchmaker Dolly Levi, played by Barbra Streisand, to find him a wife. Unknown to Horace, Dolly secretly wants him for herself. She manages to convince Horace to accompany her to New York City, accompanied by Horace's niece, her beau and two of Horace's employees.
