Hellboy

Hellboy is fictional character featured in comic books, films, novels, and games.

Hellboy had his comics debut in 1993, but did not achieve wider recognition until the 2004 film by Guillermo del Toro introduced him to a mass audience. A classic conflicted superhero (with his own distinct twists), Hellboy is demon, summoned by the Nazis toward the end of World War II, but taken by US forces and raised to fight evil. The character himself is sincere in his mission. Among other unique attributes, Hellboy has a large pair of horns, which he files down to stubs, as well as a heavy, hammer-like right hand, the "Right Hand of Doom." As portrayed in the 2004 film, Hellboy also has a tender side, particularly in his love for felines, which he goes out of his way to protect. Del Toro's sequel, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, was released in 2008.
