Helen Slater is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She was born on December 15, 1963 in Massapequa, New York. Slater has a brother named David. Her father, Gerald Slater, is a television executive and her mother, Alice Joan, is a lawyer. Slater's family is Jewish. In 1990, she married editor Robert Watzke. They have a daughter together named Hannah Nika.

Acting Career
Slater made her acting debut in 1982 with the television movie Amy and the Angel. In 1984, she was cast as Selena in Supergirl. From there she played in The Legend of Billie Jean, Ruthless People, The Secret of My Success, Seinfeld Lassie and No Way Back. Her more recent works include National Lampoons' American Adventure, Nowhere In Sight, The Harder They Fall and Smallville. -
