Heather Mitts

  • Heather Mitts is a professional soccer player on United States Women's National Soccer Team. On August 21, 2008, Mills and her teammates defeated Brazil in the final match to earn the womens' U.S. Olympic soccer team the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Beijing.The Associated Press: US beats Brazil 1-0 for gold medal (August 21, 2008)
  • Career

    After Mitts led her high school, St. Ursula Academy, to win four straight district titles, the University of Florida offered her a scholarship. In her first year of college she started in 20 of 21 matches, leading her team to win the Gator award for exceeding the coaches expectations. Tampa Bay soon called her for a position on the team but her time there was short lived. In 2001 she was drafted to the Philadelphia Charge's team and she became their defender. In 2004 Mitts played with the U.S. Olympic soccer team and won the gold medal. On June 23, 2008, Mitts was named on the player roster for the 2008 Olympics.
