In 2007, Heather Garraus, wife to Ignacio Garraus, was gunned down by her husband's mistress, Shawna Nelson. In the weeks preceding her death, she discovered Ignacio fathered a child with Nelson a year earlier. Heather left behind a 9-year-old daughter. There is much speculation as to what caused Nelson to murder Heather. Many believe she may have suffered a breakdown when Ignacio Garraus broke off their relationship and relinquished rights to his child. On March 3, 2008, Shawna Nelson was found guilty of the murder of Heather Garraus, and sentenced to life in prison.
