Reviews of the Toshiba Gigashot GSC-DW1 HD DVD Writer
Aimed squarely as an accessory to Toshiba’s range of Gigashot A/K series of HD cameras, Tobhiba’s GSC-DW1 HD DVD burner will allow for the burning of HD footage via a USB 2.0 connection to single layer DVD-R discs which, when you consider that this equates to a mere 35 minutes of footage in true, top notch HD, makes the device of somewhat limited appeal. If fact, in all honesty, and with all due respect to Toshiba (who are still no doubt licking their wounds following the failure of their HD-DVD format), we really cannot quite fathom who this device would actually appeal to. - TFTS Technology & Gadgetshttp://nexus404.com/Blog/2008/03/06/toshiba-gigashot-gsc-dw1-hd-dvd-burner/
Reviews of the LG GGC-H20L (Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo Drive)
With their series of Super Multi Drives, LG has bridged the gap between Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD by giving users the ability to enjoy high-def movies in both formats. Unfortunately, the high price of these drives has put them out of reach for most consumers, especially those that are only looking to play movies. For these people, LG has introduced the GGC-H20L. While lacking the BD writing capabilities found on the GGW-H20L, the GGC-H20L delivers the same performance and features at a more affordable price. - CDRLabshttp://cdrlabs.com/Reviews/lg-ggc-h20l-super-multi-blue-blu-ray-disc-hd-dvd-rom/Conclusion.html
Capable of reading Blu-ray and HD DVD discs, this LG drive however only writes to DVD media so if you're one of those early adopters looking for writing capabilities, the model to look out for is LG's GGW-H10N, which is able to write to Blu-ray discs while also read HD DVD-ROM. In our opinion, Blu-ray or HD DVD writing capability is not as important to most consumers now compared to read support and this expectation is probably followed by price as a close second. - HardwareZonehttp://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=29&id=2438
