Hawkman is a fiction superhero who has appeared in several comic books and eponymous series published by DC Comics as well as animated cartoons. In the DC Universe, several people have assumed the Hawkman identity, including human beings and one extraterrestrial from the planet Thanagar.

Though some versions of Hawkman prefer firearms to other weapons, all of them have used a special belt made out of a fictional metal (Nth metal) to counteract gravity and fly. Hawkman's wings are not used to achieve flight, but they are instrumental in steering and navigation. Some versions of Hawkman have also used relied primarily on non-projectile weapons, with the mace being the most typical one.
