  • Overview

Hawker Beechcraft is merger of two aircraft manufacturers. Beechcraft an American company well known for making propeller driven business aircraft and military trainers. Hawker a British company well known for making high performance fighters during WW2 now makes a series of business jets.

Currently they still produce their popular Bonanza, single-engine general aviation cruiser, the King Air, a turboprop business aircraft, and the Baron, a twin-engine general aviation cruiser. Also they make the Hawker business jet series, the 400XP, 750, 850XP, 900XP, and 4000. The Bonanza holds one the longest known production spans of a single aircraft design.

Recently, in Feb 2009 2,300 workers were laid off from plants in Wichita, KS and abroad. This month, June 2009 they stated there will be furloughs for a total of 11 days from June 29 to July 2, Nov. 23 to 25, and Dec. 21 to 24.
