An 8.8 earthquake hit Chile on February 27, 2010, resulting in tsunami warnings for several countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Hawaii and especially the Big Island of Hawaii. A tsunami warning was also issued for Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, The Solomon Islands, Indonesia, The Philippines, French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, American Samoa, Samoa and Indonesia.
