Shot on location on Oahu, Hawaii (as the title suggested), Hawaii Five-O centered around Officer Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord), who pursued and arrested criminals all over the islands.

McGarrett worked as part of a fictional state police force, often partnered with other officers like Chin Ho Kelly (Kam Fong), Kono Kalakaua (Zulu) and Danny Williams (James MacArthur), who McGarrett would turn to after catching a criminal and say, "Book 'em, Danno!"

Hawaii Five-O was at first criticized for its Caucasian leads, though the majority of Hawaii's population are of Asian descent. Still, the show cast many locals in minor roles, and is considered to have played a big role in luring millions more tourists to the islands since its run.

The show, which aired for twelve seasons, is one of the longest running crime shows on American television, surpassed only by Law and Order. Since its initial run, Hawaii Five-O is still viewed by millions in syndication.
