Havarti

Havarti is a soft-ripened cheese from Denmark. It is smooth with small holes (similar to Swiss Cheese) and is either beige or yellow with a buttery and sweet flavor.

Havarti was named after the farm it was developed on by a Danish farmer's wife who experimented with cheese-making in the late 19th century.

Havarti is often made with different flavors such as cranberry, garlic, and dill. It is used for fondue and sandwiches and can be sliced, grilled or melted. It pairs well with fruit and crackers and white wines such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

Havarti is a popular Danish cheese along with Tilsit, Esrom, Danbo, Danish Blue, and Blue Castello.
