Havanese

The Havanese is a member of the bichon family of dogs and is the national dog of Cuba.

Health Problems

While pure-bred Havanese dogs are relatively healthy, they may suffer from eye, liver and hip problems, as well as seizures and deafness. It is recommended to purchase Havanese puppies from reputable breeders as the high price of pure-bred puppies has prompted widespread unlicensed breeding.WikiFido: Havanese

Sports or Activities

Havanese dogs have commonly been used in the circus as they are intelligent and highly trainable. They are also considered great companion dogs for homes with children, cats and older persons. They are not naturally aggressive, but will bark if alerted by an unfamiliar person or noise. Their long coat requires daily brushing and semi-annual grooming.Dog Owner's Guide: The Havanese
