  • Pro Career

    Rahman started his pro career impressively with 32 straight wins. Then on December 19, 1998, he suffered his first loss by technical knock out in the 10th round at the hands of KO artist David Tua. He suffered his second loss at the hands of Oleg Maskaev by knock out in the 8th round. Rahman earned his first heavyweight title with a KO of Lennox Lewis on April 22, 2001. He would lose the belt to Lewis in a rematch to Lewis on November 17, 2001. On November 10, 2005, Rahman was awarded the WBC heavyweight title with the retirement of Vitali Klitschko. He would lose his belt to Oleg Maskaev in the 12th round by TKO. On July 16, 2008 Rahman lost a bout to James Toney when the fight was stopped by accidental headbutt. Later the victory by Toney was overturned to a No contest.

    After Alexander Povetkin dropped out of his heavyweight title match against Wladimir Klitschko, Rahman was awarded the opportunity and will fight Klitschko on December 13, 2008.BoxRec: Hasim Rahman
