Hashimoto's Disease

Hashimoto's disease is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks the thyroid gland. As a result the thyroid cells get damaged and don't produce the as many hormones as normal. This under production of thyroid hormones is called hypothyroidism.MayoClinic.com: Hashimoto's disease

Common symptoms include sensitivity to cold, unexplained weight gain, fatigue, constipation, swelling of the face and neck, development of a goiter, dry skin, hair loss, inability to concentrate and heavy, irregular periods.
