Origin
Named in honour of Canadian Dr. David Hart, the Hart Trophy was retired to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1960, and a new one was introduced and named the Hart Memorial Trophy. Dr. David Hart was the father of former NHL coach and General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens.
