Following an air strike, al-Jaburi and his brothers surrendered to the U.S. Forces surrounding the farmhouse. According to the American soldiers, al-Jaburi then went back into the house and reemerged armed with an assault rifle. Al-Jaburi's family members, however, claim that he and his brothers were forced to take off their clothes and lie on the ground. The soldiers, they say, then ordered al-Jaburi to go back into the back into the house. According to al-Jaburi's brother Nurri: "He was told to turn the lights on. And the moment he turned on the lights, the soldiers opened fire, and then dragged him deeper inside the house."CNN: Army investigates troops' killing of al Qaeda suspect (December 31, 2008)
