  • Hard cider is traditionally made from fermented apple juice, but can also be made from pears. It can ferment with the yeasts naturally present in the juice, or yeast can be introduced to ferment it. It was a traditional beverage in Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, and was a popular drink in the colonial United States. Fruit for cider is generally not pleasant to eat, as different qualities in fruit are required for good cider.
