Plot
Played by Adam Sandler, Happy Gilmore is an avid hockey player who was passed over for the local team several years in the row. One morning he gets a call from his grandmother, played by Frances Bay, to learn that the IRS is taking her home and all of her possessions since she owes $270 in back taxes. Happy discovers he can earn money by out driving golfers at a local driving range. One day he is approached by Chubbs Peterson, played by Carl Weathers, a former professional golfer who convinces that he can earn the "big bucks" by playing golf.Happy joins the pro tour in an attempt to raise the money needed to get his grandmother's house back. His life on the tour is not easy however as reining top golfer Shooter McGavin, played by Christopher McDonald, does not welcome him very well.
