HappyFarm is an originally Chinese Farming game for Social Networking sites like FaceBook. It was first introduced in May 2008, on Chinese social network Kaixin001, but became popular in 2009. The game has resulted in many spring-offs, including Sunshine Farm, Happy Farmer, Happy Fishpond and Happy Pig Farm, and FarmVille, which is very popular on Facebook. The original creator of HappyFarm, Tencent has launched spin off Happy Garden in November 2009. Happy Farm has an estimated 30 million registered players, and many join daily. The game used to be very popular with users between the ages 25-30, and was played regularly in offices, causing some employees to get fired after being caught playing the game while on the job. In December 2009, Wired awarded Happy Farm a number 14 spot on their list of "Most Influential Games of the Decade", stating:

In Happy Farm players have to take care of a slab of farmland, which they can use to grow crops, irrigate, and hopefully harvest and sell their produce. The players can earn points when when players perform a range of farming activities, or helping out their neighbours’ farms. Good neighbors can help advance a player’s farm, but bad ones can steal their crops.In Happy Farm players tend a plot of farmland, grow crops, irrigate their tracts and eventually harvest and sell their produce.
