Career
After playing keyboards and synthesizers for groups like The Buggles in the early 1980s, Zimmer gradually became an A-list composer after receiving an Oscar nomination for his Rain Man score. He would win the Oscar six years later for The Lion King.Given his background, Zimmer is known for mixing both orchestral and electronic sounds with his music. This is perhaps most evident in his score for Crimson Tide, which won him his first Grammy in 1996.
Zimmer continues to write music for film franchises like the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, and the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman films.
