Hans Reiser

Hans Reiser is a Linux software engineer and the founder of Namesys Inc.. On April 28, 2008, Reiser was found guilty of the murder of his wife Nina Reiser. ABC News: Convicted Killer Leads Cops to Wife's Body (July 7, 2008) The following day, he was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Marriage and Divorce

Hans met Nina Reiser in 1998 while he was working in Russia.ABC News: Convicted Killer Leads Cops to Wife's Body (July 7, 2008) Nina was an OB/GYN. Nina and Hans married and later had two children. In May 2004 they were separated. Nina filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. In December of 2004, Nina obtained a temporary restraining order after Reiser allegedly abused her.SFGate: Man's home searched -- wife is missing(September 14, 2006) When Nina went missing, the two were still legally married.

Wife's Disappearance

Nina was reported missing on September 3, 2006. Her car was found with groceries inside and she failed to pick up the children at school. Upon investigation, police found evidence that linked Reiser to the disappearance of Nina. Reiser was arrested for the murder of Nina Reiser on October 10, 2006.
