The early life and motives of notorious villain Hannibal Lecter are depicted in the thriller film Hannibal Rising, which is a prequel to Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs. Gaspard Ulliel stars as the title character.
Plot Summary

During World War II, young Hannibal's life is forever changed when he watches helplessly as his family is brutally murdered. Following their deaths, he seeks refuge in a Soviet orphanage and later travels to Paris. Haunted by nightmares and obsessed with revenge, the intelligent yet disturbed young man enrolls in medical school and begins perfecting the skills that will turn him into the notorious cannibalistic serial killer.
