Johnson earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was chiefly responsible for criminal and civil litigation at Johnson and Johnson Law Group Limited Liability Company, a legal firm he operated in partnership with his wife for three decades. For one of those decades, he sat as Judge for the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County.
