Hammers

- Claw hammers' heads are blunt on one end for delivering blows and can extract nails with the other "claw"-like end
- Framing hammers are similarly shaped but have a straight claw that can rip lumber
- On geologist's hammers, the head is flat for delivering blows on one end while the other end may be either a chisel or a pick
- Sledgehammers and mallets have larger heads and longer handles than average hammers and thus can deliver a more forceful blow

The hammer is one of the world's oldest, simplest and handiest tools. Usually consisting of a [[Steel]|steel]] head and a wooden handle, the hammer's most frequent use is that of driving (or "hammering") nails into wood, walls, and elsewhere.
