  • Ham and bean soup is an easy way to utilize leftover ham. The soup is prepared by adding the ham, beans and additional ingredients, such as onions, celery, carrots and spices, into a pot and slow cooking.

  • How to Make Ham and Bean Soup

    1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
    2. Add the onion, celery and carrots and cook for five to ten minutes, or until tender.
    3. Mix in the beans, chicken broth, ham, chili powder, garlic, pepper and bay leaf.
    4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for an additional 20 minutes or until the beans are tender.
    5. Remove the bay leaf, serve and enjoy!
