Halo Reach, the latest installment in the wildly popular Halo video game series, is a prequel to Halo Combat Evolved. Halo Reach takes place during the time frame of the graphic novel Halo The Fall of Reach in which the elite Spartan super soldiers are still commissioned to fight the alien Covenant.The global unveiling of Halo Reach was scheduled to take place at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards on December 12.http://www.gametrailers.com/video/vga-announcement-halo-reach/59148

Halo Reach takes place on the human-colonized planet of Reach, the fourth largest planet in the Epsilon Eridani system, home of the UNSC Fleet Command Headquarters and the training location for the UNSC's elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. Reach is also the largest exporter of titanium and the single largest spaceship manufacturer. The player assumes the role of a Spartan who joins the Noble Team, a group of elite soldiers serving the United Nations Space Command who is sent to Reach with his team. Additional characters included in the game are Carter-A259, Kat-B320, Jorge-052, Emile-A239 and Jun-A266. The player’s team has to fight the alien Covenant in order to protect Reach, which is now the home to over 700 million civilians.

Halo Reach features a Campaign Mode as well as a Multiplayer Mode for 16 players online or 4 players offline, on Split Screen. New weapons and vehicles can be found in the game as well as different achievements.

Halo Reach also contains a secret racing mini-game known as Reach Racer.The player can choose predefined armors and weapons and combine them as he wishes. There are over 30 different weapons and equipment pieces available in Halo Reach. Some of these weapons were designed for this game while the rest were also available in the previous titles of the series.

There are eleven levels in the game and seventeen multiplayer maps. The standard multiplayer maps are: Boardwalk, Boneyard, Countdown, Forge World, Powerhouse, Reflection, Spire, Sword Base, Zealot

The Firefight multiplayer maps are: Beachhead, Corvette, Courtyard, Glacier, Holdout, Outpost, Overlook and Waterfront.
