• Halo Reach, the next installment in the wildly popular Halo video game series, is a prequel to Halo Combat Evolved.     Halo Reach takes place on the human-colonized planet of Reach, the fourth largest planet in the Epsilon Eridani system, home of the UNSC Fleet Command Headquarters and the training location for the UNSC's elite Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. Reach is also the largest exporter of titanium and the single largest spaceship manufacturer.     The teaser trailer announcing the game was shown at the Microsoft E3 2009 press conference on June 1, 2009. In the trailer, the planet Reach is shown as being bombarded by Covenant forces. Following the backstory of Halo Combat Evolved and the graphic novels, Reach is eventually destroyed by a Covenant fleet. This has not, however, been confirmed by Bungie.


    The debut of the game's first trailer at the Spike Video Game Awards added a bit more information. This two and a half minute trailer hints at the game following at least some of the events in Eric Nylund's Halo The Fall of Reach. According to a radio transmission in the trailer, the game will be following the story of Noble Team, a squad of battle-hardened Spartan soldiers, as they attempt to defend the planet Reach against the Covenant.

  • Gameplay

    Bungie has been careful not to release any information about the upcoming Halo Reach except to confirm that it is indeed a first person shooter. The initial teaser trailer offered little, except to demonstrate the attack on the planet Reach, and share the news of the public multiplayer beta, available to everyone who purchased Halo 3 ODST upon its release in 2010. A public beta suggests a drastic difference from prior Halo series releases.
