About the Series

The Halo series takes place in a fictional sci-fi universe and typically puts the player in the place of a human (or super-human in the case of Master Chief) soldier in the middle of a power struggle between three separate factions; Humans, The Covenant, and The Flood.
Humans and The Covenant army were at odds for a long while until a ceaselessly consumptive race of creatures called The Flood threatened the security of both waring factions. This gave humanity no other choice but to team up with its once-nemesis and fight off the invasion of The Flood.
There are three main numerical games in the series, but also of note are Halo Wars (a real-time strategy spin-off) and Halo 3 ODST, which will have the player controlling a standard drop-ship trooper in place of the ultra-powerful Master Chief.Official Site: Halo 3 ODST
