Halo 3: ODST Walkthrough - Opening Introduction
This page contains a full text and video walkthrough for Halo 3: ODST, a standalone expansion for the first-person shooter video game Halo 3. Begin the game on a UNSC warship orbiting over New Mombasa, Kenya on October 23, 2552. Corporal Taylor "Dutch" Miles, Lance Corporal Kojo "Romeo" Agu, Private First Class Michael "Mickey" Crespo, and Lance Corporal "Rookie" sleeping in the back, are met by their team leader, Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck, and Naval Intelligence operative named Veronica or "Dare". While entering, Romeo hits the Rookie across the head with the stock of his rifle. The Rookie's pod is then closed, spun around, and lowered into the launch bay to begin drop preparations. Six hours after being knocked unconscious by the impact of Mickey's pod and a violent landing into the side of a building, the Rookie wakes to the noise of a flight of Type-52 "Phantom" Troop Carriers flying low above the city. He arms the four explosive bolts located in all four corners of the door to exit the pod, jumps a few dozen meters down into the streets below, completely draining his stamina. After combing the area for medical supplies, he regains his health, and proceeds to find his lost Marines.
Mission 01: Prepare to Drop
- The Rookie
- NOTE: Begin the game by crash landing as The Rookie into a New Mombasa district after being separated from your ODST squad.
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, beam rifle
- TIP: To return to the city as needed throughout the campaign, access the city map on one of the COMM Terminals.
- Choke Point 1: Pod Landing Point
- Start with a brief check of your look inversion.
- Punch the four green explosive bolts to open the Pod and drop to the ground.
- TIP: The bolts glow green. Point at them and hit the bolts to make them turn red.
- NOTE: You are initially armed with an M7S silenced Submachine Gun and M6S Magnum.
- TIP: Your stamina drops due to the fall. You will also lose Stamina after a fall or being wounded by enemy fire. Stamina will regenerate over time.
- Turn to the right.
- Head to the lit screens of the Optican Medigel Dispensary Kiosk at the corner Waypoint 1A for an automatic Health Pack.
- Wait for the red edges of your HUD to recede and to regain your Stamina.
- TIP: Straight ahead of the initial start point is a second Optican kiosk. Return here should you need additional health in the future.
- TIP: Health packs may also be picked up from random places on the ground.
- Objective: Explore the city at night
- Use X to turn on your VISR's Target Acquisition mode.
- NOTE: The VISR is useful in dimly lit areas for target identification.
- Test the target acquisition on the first of many enemies, the Brute and Grunt patrol on the roadway to the west.
- Take cover behind the wrecked coach liner.
- Switch to your Magnum and take the Brute with headshots from a distance.
- Then focus your distance attack on the Grunts.
- Return to the Optican Kioisk and grab the Health Pack if you need it.
- TIP: Take cover whenever you spot a Bubble Shield. Wait for the enemies to emerge from the shield and take them out.
- TIP: Shoot any Suicide Grunts you spot immediately and from a distance. Back away from them before the explosion. They usually carry Plasma Grenades.
- TIP: Pick up any Sticky or Plasma Grenades, Brute Shots and Plasma Pistols after every fight.

- Choke Point 2: Accessing the Superintendent
- Continue down the street to the large intersection with an elevated area in the center.
- Spot the two Phantoms pulling away from the roundabout and plaza at the base of the ramp.
- Go up the ramp to have a look at the next area.
- Watch for the batch of Grunts behind the Brute.
- Use zoomed Magnum shots to take out the Brute.
- TIP: Plasma Pistol overcharge followed by headshots are the easiest way to take out Brutes.
- TIP: Simple headshots are effective for Grunts.
- TIP: To take out multiple enemies, lob a Grenade at the ground where the Phantom has dropped them off.
- Use a grenade if you have one to clear the intersection if needed.
- NOTE: The road splits into two directions from the intersection. All clear to the right, but there are more enemies to the left.
- Pick off the Brutshot-armed brute, Carbine-wielding elite, and the remaining Grunts from your current location.
- Objective: Contact city Superintendent
- Once the final Covenant has fallen, your HUD updates to let you know you are separated from your squad and need to contact the city Superintendent for assistance.
- Inspect Covenant corpses for weapons, particularly Grenades.
- Pick up any Covenant weapons, e.g., Needler, Carbine, Plasma Rifle.
- Flick to VISR mode.
- Look to the left for the Data Terminal with the yellow outline.
- Hold RB to access the Data Terminal.
- This downloads the City Map into your VISR, which grants you the Tourist Achievement.
- NOTE: Watch the tutorial about using the map.
- Follow the NAV menu instructions to move about and zoom in on your map, place a Waypoint.
- Your compass is now on your HUD as is Tayari Plaza, the last known location of one of your ODST squadmates.
- Check the Intel Data in your menu for your next objective: to find your ODST squadmates.
- TIP: Once you have made contact, the Superintendent begins to leave clues to follow. Pay attention to Detour and directional signs or voices telling you to "walk". These are all instructions from the Superintendent.

- Choke Point 3: Building Infiltration
- Objective: Search Tayari Plaza for ODST squadmate
- Collect any dropped weapons.
- Head south through the smoking remains of vehicles to get to the Optican Kiosk.
- Continue left towards a side door near the "Slow Down" signs in the middle of the road.
- Face southeast.
- Hold RB to open the security door.
- Look to the left prior to entering.
- Take note of the Superintendent Supply Cache that you can access later.
- Flick on the VISR.
- Continue into the building.
- Pass the "Glass This!" graffiti.
- Proceed through the hallway to the security door to the northeast.
- Open the door.
- Enter the courtyard.
- Stand on the upper pavement and take out the Grunts with Grenades.
- Locate the security door marked DETOUR directly opposite the one you entered.
- Enter the next building through the indoor hallway.
- Step over the slain Grunts and Brutes.
- Pick up the Assault Rifle.
- Equip a close combat weapon.
- Head west.
- Continue up the stairs.
- TIP: If you need a suitable close combat weapon, stop at the top of the stairs and head to the right. Take the Shotgun from the dead Marine at the end of the dead end corridor. Return to the main hallway.
- Continue upstairs (marked with a "2" on the wall).
- Make your way to the next floor.
- Check the open door on the right.
- Take out the two Jackals with two quick Shotgun blasts from the doorway.
- Pick up the Carbine and Beam Rifles.
- Continue up the stairs (marked with a "3" on the wall) until you get to the fourth floor.
- Proceed straight down the hall until you get to a cluttered office.
- Hold RB to inspect the Recon Helmet.
Mission 02: Tayari Plaza
- Buck
- NOTE: Begin gameplay as Buck with a less than perfect landing.
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, beam rifle
- Choke Point 1: Phantom Airdrop
- Objective: Find Dare's crash site
- Objective: Beat the Covenant to Dare's crash site
- Disembark from the Pod.
- Ignore the command to open your VISR.
- Focus on the enemies dropping from the Phantom immediately to your north.
- Stay on the upper level.
- Take cover behind sandbags.
- Take out the Grunts and Brutes from your current location using zoomed Magnum shots.
- Continue sniping your targets until they retreat behind the distant beacons and building pillars to the right.

- Choke Point 2: Brute Force
- Jump down to the level below.
- Hug the wall to the right.
- Pass the S-27 sanitation truck.
- Head northwest.
- Keep your back against the right wall.
- Toss a grenade into the arcade to take out the pack of enemies inside the overhang.
- Retreat and finish off any remaining enemies with distance shots.
- Stay at the arcade.
- Take out the group of Grunts with headshots.
- Take on the Brute at close quarters.
- Pick up health packs at the Optican Kiosk at the northeast end of the street if you need them.
- Find the open northwestern passage.
- Meet up with another Marine who advises you to flank the Covenant from the buildings.
- Spot the automatic door to the left.
- Head into the door to pick up additional weapons and ammo.
- There is also a health pack near the dead Marine on the western steps.
- Follow the hall upstairs.
- Toss a grenade outside to take out the Brutes on the street.
- Throw grenades behind you if some come after you from downstairs.
- Make your way southwest through the building until you get to the balcony.
- Jump down to the ground level.
- Head north through the long, narrow corridor to take out the Covenant swarm.
- Stay close to the right wall and take out the Brute.

- Choke Point 3: Plasma Turret Blockade
- Head north around the corner to the small arcade.
- Get ready for battle with half a dozen Grunts and some Brutes.
- Be especially careful of the Grunt manning the Plasma Turret on the upper alcove to the right of the stairs.
- Take cover behind the concrete barricades.
- Take out Grunts with your Pistol while tossing grenades at them.
- Keep up the attack until the enemies retreat up the road.
- Move carefully into the arcade to take cover from the Grunt manning the Plasma Cannon.
- Step forward and snipe him to finish clearing the area.
- Choke Point 4: Watchtower Assault
- Proceed north through the corridor.
- Follow the corridor as it turns west.
- Once it turns west, expect to fight some Shield Jackals, Jackal Snipers and Grunts.
- Use the left wall or pillars for cover.
- Stop before you pass the parked container truck.
- Zoom in to scan the area before you are attacked.
- Take out the sniper in the floating roost at the end of the street.
- Continue forward methodically while you keep the north wall at your back.
- Snipe the Sniper Jackals behind the sniper's roost from ground level.
- Pick up any available weaponry and ammunition.
- NOTE: Get the Plasma Beam Sniper Rifle from the sniper's roost.
- Locate the switch on the green-lit doorway to open the gate and access Zone 8.
- Choke Point 5: Snipers' Walkway (Hunter Patrol)
- Continue along the left sidewalk.
- Pick up the Carbine near the Optican Kiosk if you need a long-range weapon.
- Continue to the concrete planter.
- Talk to the Marine who advises you to cut through the building to attack the Covenant forces from the rear.
- Go through the doorway.
- Follow the dark hallway to the first door on the right.
- Take out the Sniper Jackal wielding the Plasma Beam Rifle.
- Pick up the Plasma Beam Rifle.
- Use it to take out the Brutes wandering on the walkway.
- Take cover in the doorway to continue sniping the enemies outside the building.
- Once everyone is taken care of, peak out and take out the snipers on the upper levels of the buildings.
- Don't forget to take out the plasma cannon turret to the north.
- When the snipers are dispatched, two Covenant Hunters enter the area from the north.
- Lure the hunters onto the catwalk.
- Toss Plasma Grenades in their direction.
- Strafe sideways as you attack to avoid their cannon shots.
- When the area is clear, continue north on the path the Hunters emerged from until the road opens into another outdoor area.

- Choke Point 6: Tayari Plaza Crash Site
- Objective: Open crashed drop-pod
- Proceed north through the gate.
- Continue forward.
- Look to the east for the Phantom leaving Tayari Plaza.
- Look below at the half a dozen Grunts shooting at Dare's Pod.
- Take out the Grunts with headshots from the upper roadway overlooking the plaza.
- Explore the area to prepare for its use in future settings.
- Pry open the Pod.
- Watch the cutscene to end the mission.
Mission 02: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- NOTE: The Rookie sets Dare's helmet to the side and begins his journey through the New Mombasa streets and plazas in search of a squadmate.
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, sniper rifle
- Choke Point 1: Tayari Plaza Crash Site
- Objective: Search Uplift Reserve for ODST squadmate.
- Retrace your steps from the area where you discovered the helmet back through the current building.
- Proceed southwest towards the Uplift Reserve.

- Go down the steps.
- Take out the Grunts in the corridors with your shotgun.
- Continue to the ground floor.
- Pick up any supplies you need from the dead Marine.
- Make your way to the southeast exit.
- Exit the building through the door leading to Tayari Plaza.
- Make note of the Optican Kiosk on the western wall to your right.
- Continue south towards the gate.
- Proceed through the gate into Zone 8.
- Choke Point 2: Snipers' Walkway (Brute Patrol)
- Continue through the empty lower plaza.
- Get the COMM data and audio recording on the north side of the plaza.
- Continue to the upper level.
- Head south.
- Open the large door into the next area.
- Run along the right wall.
- Jump onto the narrow balcony.
- Continue until you can jump onto the platform ahead.
- Listen for the voices of some Brutes in the area.
- Take the Brutes out with a sticky grenade or two.
- Finish them off with gunfire from the Plasma Pistol.
- TIP: Take out the Brute Captain first.
- TIP: Pay special attention to the Engineer with additional shielding.
- Head south at the intersection.
- Take out the Brute and Grunts.
- Choke Point 3: Optional Areas
- Continue west.
- Follow the debris-strewn road to the left (south).
- Continue to the four-sided plaza with steps in the middle.
- Take out the enemies that hop down from the Phantom.
- Take note of the Optican Kiosk.
- Pick up necessary Grenades and weapons from slain enemies.
- Head southeast to the next plaza.
- Pick up the Assault Rifle and any other UNSC weapons from the wrecked Warthogs in the area.

- Choke Point 4: Brute Stalker Ambush.
- Continue southeast from the plaza.
- Pass the Optican Kiosk.
- Turn the corner so you are facing west.
- Take cover behind the flickering low video wall.
- Locate the small Covenant squad near an intersection.
- Take them out with the Carbine.
- Continue to the junction.
- Head east to the plaza with the protruding roof and giant pillars that is a block north of Uplift Reserve.
- Take out the troops patrolling the northeast corner of the plaza.
- Head north under the overhang.
- Enter the underground parking structure.
- Head to the terminal and listen to the COMM data.
- Head to the southwest corner of the intersection.
- Activate your VISR Enhanced Vision to spot the Brute as well as Grunts on the southwest stairs.
- Find the terminal with more COMM data to listen to.

- Choke Point 5: Zone 9, Dead-End Plaza
- Continue south to the large gate.
- Open it and take out the Jackal patrolling the balcony on the left.
- Take cover on the balcony.
- Take out any Grunts and Brutes from this cover spot.
- Choke Point 6: Uplift Reserve Entrance
- Proceed south down the road to the Uplift Reserve.
- Grab any weapons you need from the weapons cache near the entrance.
- Face southwest.
- Take out any Sniper Jackals on the balconies with one of your ranged weapons.
- Work your way around the Uplift Monument in the middle of the plaza.
- Get a Health Pack from the Optican Kiosk to the north.
- Check the curved stairs to the southwest.
- Activate your VISR.
- Look for the glowing yellow Drone Fighter Optics box at the foot of the stairs.
- Inspect it to end the chapter.
Mission 03: Uplift Reserve
- Dutch
- NOTE: Begin play as Dutch with a Spartan Laser and some UNSC Marines after landing on the outskirts of the Uplift Reserve.
- Preferred weapons: spartan laser, warthog vehicle, brute chopper vehicle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, fuel-rod cannon
- Choke Point 1: Overturned Warthog
- Objective: Link up with friendly forces
- Check your available weapons fron your smoking escape Pod.
- Run up the beach to the hill on the right.
- Head northeast up the trail.
- Pass the remains of the reserve map. (Your NAV map is more detailed).
- Meet up with the Marine squad as they locate an overturned Warthog.
- Fire on the Grunts and Brute to the northwest.
- Right the overturned Warthog.
- Hop in.
- Wait for one of the Marines to take the gunner's seat.
- Head to the southwest corner of the rock spire formation in the center of the canyon to avoid the oncoming path of the Wraith tank.
- Take out the enemy vehicles in the main canyon area, including the Wraith tank.
- Stay in the same position while your gunner continues to fire.
- Help him to take out the second Wraith tank and the remaining Ghosts and Choppers.
- Once all the vehicles are destroyed, clear the area of any remaining Jackals.
- Choke Point 3: Endangered Species
- Objective: Find Marine Second Platoon
- Exit the area by heading northwest along the trail.
- Follow it around to a humped tunnel interior with the parked Ghost at the entrance.
- Pick up the health pack to the right of the entrance.
- NOTE: Once you see the UNSC aircraft, you must reach the Marine Second Platoon immediately.
- Hop into the Ghost.
- Follow the tunnel to Zone 3.
- Be ready for the Jackals outside the tunnel exit.
- Take them out.
- Head to the right.
- Take out the fuel rod cannon.
- Clear the area outside the tunnel of remaining Grunts.
- Continue northwest to the next checkpoint.
- Choke Point 4: Banshee Bombardment
- Skirt around the pond area.
- Face east and locate the Banshees in the sky.
- Fire a charged Plasma Pistol shot at one of the Banshees to knock it out of the sky.
- TIP: If you don't have a Plasma Pistol, try using a Spartan Laser or other rapid fire weapon.
- TIP: Once you knock one of the Banshees down, the remainder flee.
- Choke Point 5: Zone 3 Perimeter Bluff
- Continue across the rocky terrain to find the northern trail.

- Proceed northwest on the trail to the large wilderness compound protected by three Shade Turrets.
- Rush the Turrets from the side to have your gunner take them out.
- NOTE: The remaining forces are easy to take out once the Turrets are destroyed.
- Choke Point 6: Shooting the Messenger
- Watch for the Brute heading out of the area on a Ghost.
- Drive alongside using a Warhog.
- Have your Turret gunner take him out with rapid fire.
- Ride to the upper roadway and follow it southeast.
- Take out the Brute before he has a chance to warn the Wraiths at Choke Point 7 of your impending arrival.
- Choke Point 7: Lost Platoon Outpost
- Enter the Lost Platoon Outpost heading northeast.
- Enter the large roundabout and observation plateau.
- Retreat from the overhead Phantom to avoid its Plasma Turret fire.
- Pick up the Health Pack and Sniper Rifle near the metal barrier to the east.
- Right the overturned Ghost and use it if needed.
- If you managed to get the Brute before the Wraith were warned, it is best to grab the Sniper Rifle and head in on foot.
- Look northeast to the rocky hill on the opposite side of the area.
- Take out the Brute riding the Chopper with a headshot.
- Take out the Shade Turrets.
- Drive your vehicle down the ramp to the northwest.
- Continue to the flat ground to the north.
- Proceed toward the opening in the north wall of the building.
- Rendezvous with the group of Marines.
- Continue to the flat ground to the north.
- Objective: Find Colonel across the bridge.
- Replenish your supplies with an undamaged Warthog, Health Packs, and ammunition.
- Get the Spartan Laser from the Marine on the ground.
- Run to the driver's seat of the undamaged Warthog.
- Give your passenger a Spartan laser, Fuel Rod Cannon or Rocket Launcher if he is not equipped.
- Drive around either side of the building.
- Circle the Brute Choppers and Ghosts and take them out.
- Stop briefly on the roundabout where you are hidden by the edge of the bluff on the plateau from the two Wraiths floating between the slope of the hill and the rocky gully to the south.
- Continue to edge southeast for a clear view of the first Wraith at the bottom of the slope.
- Fire at both Wraiths until they are destroyed.
- Move towards the smoking remains of the Wraiths.
- Continue up the slope to the hill.
- Finish off any remaining Covenant enemies.
- Stop and grab any necessary equipment.
- TIP: Pick up some Sniper Rifles, Health Packs, Rocket Launchers and another Marine with a Spartan Laser on the open air roof mezzanine level of the building.
- Continue toward the tunnel to the bridge.
- Move oyour vehicle to the north side of the outpost structure.
- Check the room behind the parked Warthog for any needed equipment.
- Run up the stairs to the open second floor of the structure.
- Turn right and get a Sniper Rifle.

- Swing around.
- Run towards the overhang area with the Turret.
- Use the wall for cover.
- Peek out at the enemies on the hill.
- Take out the enemy operating the Shade Turret with a headshot.
- Take out the Jackals that head up to the roof form the side stairs.
- Continue to shoot all of the Shade Turret operators.
- Finish off any enemies still on the hill.
- Locate any remaining patrolling Choppers or Ghosts.
- Take them out while they are moving directly towards or away from you to make it easier to line up the shot.
- Take them out with either a Rocket Launcher or a headshot with the Sniper RIfle.
- Take out all of the vehicles except the last two Wraiths.
- Move towards the hill.
- Find the bus stop.
- Climb the metal steps in the hillside.
- Creep forward with your Rocket Launcher.
- Blast the Wraiths.
- Arm your team.
- Select your preferred vehicle.
- Make your way to the bridge entrance.
- Enter the bridge tunnel entrance.

- Pass the parked Ghost and overturned Warthog.
- NOTE: The Colonel dies at this point, updating your objective.
- Cross the bridge.
- Pass another parked Ghost at the east end of the bridge.
- Choke Point 8: Forward Encampment
- Objective: Drive up and out of park
- Continue up the dusty trail to the small Covenant encampment.
- Camp out on the other side of the hill in the road.
- Have your gunner go to work on the Ghost and Turret.
- Keep your distance from the Wraith around the corner to the right.
- Head north for a fresh Warthog once the area is clear.
- Use it to round up th etroops surrounding the central platform to form another Warthog group.
- Head east.
- Take out the small Covenant group at the western bend in the path.
- Continue to the larger camp.
- Stay back.
- Peek out just far enough to draw fire and retreat.
- Have your gunner take out the bulk of the enemies.
- TIP: You may find it easier to leave the Warthog in a safe place and head out on foot to take out the Wraith with the Spartan Laser.
- Drive west once the area is clear.
- Look for an opening in the canyon wall to the right.
- Jump the Warthog through the opening to end the chapter.
Mission 03: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- Preferred weapons: rocket launcher, scorpion tank, plasma pistol, magnum, carbine, rocket launcher, fuel rod cannon
- Choke Point 1: Uplift Reserve Entrance into Plasma Turret Plaza
- Stock up on UNSC weapons from the nearby cache.
- Head out from the Uplift Reserve Plaza.
- Move around either the northern or eastern street from the plaza to either northern perimeter gate into District 8.
- Move north to the junction.
- Head east at the junction.
- Stop in the L-shaped dead end alley.
- Pick up the Assault Rifle and Grenades from the fallen Marine.
- Wind around to the northeast.
- Pass the Optican Kiosk.
- Head up the sloping road.
- Slow down as you reach the barricades.
- Back up.
- Snipe the Covenant patrol at the plaza entrance.
- Enter the Plasma Turret plaza.
- Stay back.
- Locate each Grunt manning Plasma Turrets around the central gazebo.
- Take them out with headshots.
- Continue further into the plaza after the Turrets are secured.

- Watch for a Jackal Sniper and take him out.
- Head west out of District 8 to District 6.
- Take out any Grunts along the way.
- Choke Point 2: Engineers' Courtyard to Wrecked Plaza to Lower Plaza
- Continue to the west to the fallen elevator.
- Head northeast to the weapons cache at the end of the street to the left.
- Pick up any necessary equipment.
- Go through the doorway to the left.
- Pass through the building interior.
- Grab any Grenades and a Shotgun.
- Go through the inner outdoor courtyard.
- Take out the two floating Engineers with a charged Plasma Pistol shot.
- Take more Grenades.
- Return to the street.
- Continue west.
- Take out the patrolling Brute and Grunts with headshots.
- Climb through the wreckage at the plaza.
- Pick up the Covenant gear.
- Take cover behind the concrete planters.
- Take out the Grunts.
- Head southeast to the lower plaza.
- Take out the Jackal.

- Preferred weapons: rocket launcher, scorpion tank, plasma pistol, magnum, carbine, rocket launcher, fuel rod cannon
- Choke Point 1: Covered Plaza and Scorpion Acquisition
- Objective: Save Marines and Scorpion Tank
- Take cover.
- Switch to the Rocket Launcher.
- Fire a few shots to explode the Wraith.
- Switch to your Silenced SMG.
- Take out the two Jackals in the Wraith.
- Keep one rocket in the launcher.
- Head to the closest of two Scorpion Tanks.
- Wait for any UNSC forces to move alongside your Scorpion.
- Have a Marine sit on the tank's side to provide fire supprot.
- Give him the ROcket Launcher to earn an extra Achievement.
- Head to the west.
- Watch the Phantom drop a Wraith in the distance.
- Track the Phantom with your Turret and blast the Phantom.
- Launch Cannon strikes on the Ghost and any Brutes to your left.
- Head up the ramp.
- Destroy the Wraith ahead of you on the road.
- Check the dead end road to the north.
- Take out the Brute for an objective update.

- Continue along the city street.

- Check the skies for an incoming Phantom.

- Investigate the undamaged Scorpion parked on the road to the northeast.
- Use it for cover to take out the Grunts behind the defenses in front of the dead end energy wall.
- Pick up any ammunition in the area.
- NOTE: You begin picking up Dutch's signal from the south.
- Exit the plaza to the south to head from District 3 to District 4 while your objective updates.
- Objective: Rescue Dutch
- Choke Point 4: Kizingo Plaza
- Continue south through the door.
- Turn your tank to the left to face the road.
- NOTE: Dutch and a squad of Marines are trying to ambush a Covenant patrol with two Wraiths and a Ghost. Hang back.
- Stay in the Scorpion.
- Track the two Banshees as they head your way.
- Use the Cannon to take them out.
- Continue down the street.
- Fire at the infantry behind cover on the left.
- Swing your Turret to the right as the road turns right.
- Target the Phantom that is trying to deposit Jackals and Brutes ont he balconies.
- Continue to the base of the sloped road.

- Focus on the Wraith headed in your direction.
- After taking it out, shift your focus to the Ghost dropped off at the junction.

- Take out the Wraith going after Dutch with the Cannon.
- Take aim at the last Phantom trying to drop Covenant troops by the concrete balconies.
- Choke Point 5: ONI Building Rally Point
- Objective: Help Dutch defend Rally Point
- Head up the ramp to meet Dutch.
- Hit the Covenant infantry that emerge from teh ONI facility entrance with a single rocket.
- The remainder can be taken out with a mix of Grenades and sniping.
- Continue south down the street with Dutch.
- Sprint up the sloped ramp to the group of Marines behind the UNSC barricades.
- Help the Marines take care of any miscellaneous enemies.
- Check the barricades and the building entrance to the east for Grenades, Health Packs and supplies.
- Stay behind the tall pieces of cover on the southern corner of the area to avoid the Wraith Tank.
- Use the Sniper Rifle to clear the swarm of Covenant soldiers.
- Watch the covered walkway to your rear and left for Jackal sharpshooters.
- Once the soldiers are cleared out, turn your attention to the Wraith.
- Follow the walkways along the western area of the area.
- Throw a Grenade at the Wraith to take it down.
- Regroup with Dutch at the rally point to close the chapter.
Mission 04: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, sniper rifle
- Choke Point 1: Kizingo Boulevard Plaza
- Objective: Search on ONI Alpha Site for ODST squadmate
- Finish inspecting the inactive Gauss Turret.
- Snipe the Jump-Pack Brutes dropped off by the Phantom from the balcony.
- Jump down to the concrete stepped planter area below.
- Take out the Brutes in the area.
- TIP: If you have accessed 16 COMM terminals through the game, a weapons cache is available to the northwest of the building exit. Restore any needed supplies.

- Continue to the outside platform.
- Drive up to ground level.
- Check the doorway to the rear for Health Packs.
- Pick up the Frag Grenades behind the locked door that leads to the Rally Point.
- Continue forward to the bridge remains.
- Creep forward to locate the Remote Detonator to find a clue and end the mission.
Mission 05: ONI Alpha Site
- Dutch
- NOTE: Time for a tactical withdrawal with the large amount of Covenant forces swarming the streets of New Mombasa.
- Preferred weapons: spartan laser, sniper rifle, chaingun turret, gravity hammer, shotgun, rocket launcher
- Choke Point 1: ONI Bridge Demolition
- Objective: Arm all charges on the bridge
- Head to each of the three support pillars to activate each of the three charges.
- Rush to the end of the bridge to the UNSC barricades.
- Ignore the Grunts and Brutes to take care of your newly updated objective.
- Objective: Use detonator in Watchtower
- Turn immediately to the left (northeast)
- Make your way to the UNSC Watchtower.
- Pick up the Sniper Rifle.
- Zoom in on the Covenant forces on the bridge.
- Move to the terminal.

- Power it up to set off the detonation program.
- Wait for the Superintendent to unlock the keypad that sets of the explosion. This takes out the bridge and the Covenant forces unlucky enough to be on it.

- Tke out the advancing Grunt and Brute squads with headshots from the barricades.
- Choke Point 2: ONI Courtyard -- Security Zone
- Objective: Fall back, defend inner courtyard
- Run into th ecourtyard.
- Dive behind the large concrete platforms and planters on either side of the stepped area to avoid being targeted by the Hunters, Brutes and Grunts.
- Continue to fire from cover at the enemies that each Phantom drops.
- Move from one cover spot to the next as you can, making your way to the top of the steps closer to the building.

- As soon as your objective changes, descend into the building's interior.

- Continue down the entrance corridor.
- Head south into the stepped lobby.
- Pass the UNSC pillar.
- Make your way to the Turret in the middle of the lobby.
- Get ready for the waves of Jackals, Brutes and Grunts to appear from the two doorways.
- Take aim at each of the enemy incursion points.
- Begin firing as soon as they appear.
- When the area is clear, step around corners with your Shotgun to take out enemies one at a time.
- Continue clearing out miscellaneous enemies by stepping around corners with the Shotgun until they are all taken out.
- Objective: Take elevator to roof for evac
- Check your weapons.
- Make sure you have a Carbine on hand as well as a Brute Shot before entering Choke Point 4.

- Choke Point 1: Rally Point and Kizingo Boulevard
- Get on the Mongoose that you used to reach the ONI Alpha Site.
- Head northwest.
- Follow the ramped tunnel.
- Return to the Rally Point.
- Fight the Jump-Pack Brutes in the interior of the building.
- Stay close to cover to avoid the Jackal Sniper on the roof to the east.
- Take him out.
- Continue to the northern exit into District 4.
- Take out the Jackals on the upper balconies to the southwest and northwest.
- Once the area is clear, head north to the District 4 gate.
- Continue to the ramp.
- Head north into the Kizingo Boulevard area.
- Enter the plaza with the circular planter island.
- Grab a Health Pack from the Optican Kiosk.
- Continue north to the concrete planters.
- Take out the Grunts and Brute as you continue north.
- Get out of the behicle at the Optican Kiosk to the east of the District 3 gate.
- Grab a Health Pack.
- Choke Point 2: Roundabout and Stepped Plaza to NMPD HQ Entrance
- Head north to the gazebo.
- Head over to the dead Marine inside the gazebo.
- Pick up the Assault Rifle.
- Prepare your Grenades.
- Hit the Hunter with them before you take off to avoid the Fuel Rod Cannon.
- Head northeast.
- Enter the dead end street.
- Go to the special Optican Kiosk.
- Search through the alleys near the sealed district gates for more Grenades.
- Continue northeast to the stepped plaza.
- Take out the Jackal Snipers on the rooftop of the northeast building.
- Take care of the Brute ground patrol on the stepped area.
- Head southwest to the base of the steps.
- Pick up Grenades, Health Packs, and ammunition from the underground roundabout.
- Proceed northwest.
- Turn left into the NMPD Plaza with a swooping scupture.
- Find the bent Sniper Rifle for your next clue to end the mission.
Mission 06: NMPD HQ
- Romeo
- NOTE: Romeo and Buck are on the verge of a rendezvous with Dutch and Mickey, only to be split up by a Covenant Banshee attack that splits them up.
- Preferred weapons: sniper rifle, plasma pistol, magnum, beam rifle, missile pod
- Choke Point 1: Lobby and Tiered Exterior 1 (West)
- Objective: Find Mickey and Dutch's Pelican
- Proceed through the HQ building to find Mickey and Dutch.
- Follow Buck into the lobby.
- Continue up the steps and through the door with Buck.
- Take cover behind the low concrete walls.
- Take out the Grunts and Brutes on the tiered exterior with headshots with your Sniper Rifle.
- Continue to make your way to the steps.
- Switch to the Magnum to continue taking them out with headshots.
- Use a Grenade to take out the Grunt manning the Shade Turret on the southeast edge of the area.
- NOTE: Get ready for the two Phantom drops on the exterior platforms.
- Step into the Shade Turret.
- Swing it around to the right.
- Fire frequently to cut down the enemies the Phantom drops until the area is clear.
- Choke Point 2: Tiered Exterior 2 (East)
- Head east through the lower lobby door.
- Pick up a Health Pack.
- Enter the identical eastern tiered location.
- Stay behind cover in the chambler.
- Snipe the Grunt manning the Plasma Turret.
- Move to cover on the raised balcony.
- Clear the area of Jackals and Grunts.
- Snipe enemies in the northern tiered area first.
- Ignore the enemies dropped off on the platform to the south by the second Phantom.
- Remain behind cover and take out the Jackals armed with carbines first.
- Take out any enemies on the balconies above the tiered areas.
- Then focus on taking out the remaining enemies.
- Choke Point 3: Tiered Exteriors 3 and 4 (North)
- Make your way to the second lobby.
- Select your favorite sniping weapon.
- Creep slowly to the northeast exit along the shaded right side.
- Nove to the lobby edge by the center pillar.
- Peek around the left side of the pillar.
- Pick off the four Jackals patrolling the balcony with headshots.
- Step out to the right and take out any Jackals on the skybridge.
- Take out the Grunt manning the Shade Turret on the far east balcony with a Grenade.
- Focus on the Jump Pack Brutes as they head for the Turret with your Carbine from a distance.
- Once the Jump Pack Brutes are taken out, head twoard the northeast lobby door.
- Grab the Health Pack from the interior corridor.
- Step into the lobby's connecting passage.
- Pick up additional Health Packs and any necessary weapons.
- Continue to the fourth exterior to the north.
- Kill any Grunts from the lobby doorway.
- Run to the northeast.
- Head up the stairs towards the search lights.
- Take out the Jackals.
- Use the scenery as cover.
- Lob Grenades to the west to take out the enemies in the central tiered area.
- Run towards the Plasma Turret and throw a grenade at the enemy manning the Turret.
- Take out the Jackal Sniper.
- Defeat all of the enemies before reaching the top floor.
- Head to the side corridor at the top for additional cover and more Health Packs.
- Once you get to the top floor, take out the Chieftain and two Brutes at the northwest lobby door with a Plasma Turret.
- Exit through the lobby door.
- Choke Point 4: Pelican Crash Site
- Enter the lobby.
- Take out the Grunts with a Plasma Turret.
- Continue northeast down the stairs to the main exit.
- Inspect the dead police officers before heading outside.
- Pick up SMGs and Health Packs from them if you need them.
- Follow Buck outside.
- Look down at the Pelican platform.
- Take out the Grunt armed with a Fuel Rod Cannon and two Jackals with headshots.
- Pick up a Beam Rifle.
- Head north.
- Drop down on the crane bridge leading to the crash site to meet up with Mickey and Dutch.
- Get to the lower of the crash site's two floors.
- Help Mickey and Dutch kill the Grunts and Brutes with the Beam Rifle.
- Cross the bridge.
- Climb the steps to the upper platform to update your objective.
- Objective: Defend Pelican crash site
- Note the Banshees and Phantoms flying in your direction.
- Get ready for the Covenant infantry that are being dropped by the Phantom.
- Keep firing at the airborne enemies wiht Missile Pods or a Chaingun Turret.
- NOTE: Continuing to take them out in the air means that the Covenant enemies are not dropped and you don't have to fight them.
- NOTE: While you are fighting the airborne enemies, Buck, Mickey and Dutch take care of the Covenant ground forces.
- TIP: If the Banshees are proving difficult, take them out with a Rocket Launcher or Spartan Laser.
- Continue fighting off the waves of Banshees and Phantoms until the Jump Pack Brutes land on the platform.
- Take them out with Sticky Grenades to finish them off and end the mission.
Mission 06: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, sniper rifle
- Objective: Search Kikowani Station for ODST squadmate
- Inspect the broken Sniper Rifle.
- Be ready for the Phantom to drop Jackals and Jump Pack Brutes into the NMPD Plaza.
- Take them out with a sniping weapon.
- Return to the Mongoose.
- Head east out of the plaza.
- Take the first right to return to the Stepped Plaza.
- Head aorund the junction.
- Activate your VISR Enhanced Vision in case of Brute Stalkers.
- Take out the Covenant patrol at the junction before heading north.
- Drive around to the Covered Plaza.
- Restock at the weapons cache.
- TIP: The cache is guarded by Brutes and Brute Stalkers. Stay alert.
- Cross to the western side of the plaza.
- Head north up the ramped road.
- Pass the overturned truck.
- Head to the gate to access District 0 at the northern edge of New Mombasa city.
- Choke Point 2: Optican Roundabout and Exit Roads
- Continue north into the plaza.
- Head over to the Optican Kiosk in the center.
- Pick up any Health Packs you need.
- Take out the Brute and Grunt patrol with long range sniping.
- Head over to the weapons cache if you need some equipment.
- Continue west.
- Use your in-game NAV to locate any Jackals on the rooftops.
- Take them out.
- Round the corner and take out the Brutes, Jackals and Grunts.
- Continue to the Junction.
- Head north to Kikowani Plaza.
- Choke Point 3: Kikowani Plaza and Bus Terminal
- Continue to the building interior entrance.
- Follow it up to the balcony.
- Pick up some Grenades down the steps.
- Return to the Mongoose.
- Take out the attacking Jackals, Grunts, Brutes and Brute Stalkers.
- Take out the Jackal Snipers on the rooftops.
- Exit to the north to begin heading to the Bus Terminal.
- Access the ramped road that goes through the covered part of the map.
- Drive into Brutal Plaza to take out some Jackal Snipers.
- Continue to follow the road to the Bus Terminal.
- Locate the pulsing beacon icon with your Nav.
- Drive to the sidewalk entrance.
- Inspect the Bio-Foam Canister, your next clue, to end the mission.
Mission 07: Kikowani Station
- Buck
- Preferred weapons: assault rifle, beam rifle, banshee, fuel rod cannon, magnum
- NOTE: Stabilize Romeo before heading into Kikowani Station to deal with the Covenant enemies including a Banshee, Wraiths, Engineer Housing Pods and a final battle with a massive, four-legged Scarab. After escaping the station, make your way to the Underground Hive for a possible meeting with Dare.
- Choke Point 1: Kikowani Tramway
- Ignore the right side concourse and empty tramway as Romeo continues to wheeze.
- Follow Mickey to the small group of Grunts.
- Switch to your Magnum.
- Take them out with headshots.
- Drop onto the tramway line.
- Head west.
- Pass the first stationary carriage.
- Check out the plaza to the southwest.
- Objective: Capture Phantom dropship
- Load your Assault Rifle.
- Continue along the tramway.
- Stay at the top of the ramp.
- Take out the Engineer with a head shot.
- Locate the Plasma Turret.
- Get it and destroy all of the Covenant forces in the plaza with it.
- Continue west towards the Phantom on the right side with Mickey.
- Choke Point 2: Raised Platforms and Roadway
- NOTE: Mickey picks up Dutch and Romeo in his Phantom and starts north.
- Clear the north side of the hangar by taking out as many Covenant forces as you can before Mickey arrives to finish them off in the Phantom.
- Objective: Escort Phantom in a Banshee
- Pick up your Banshee.
- Fly north along the left side of the hangar towards the closed door.
- Destroy the Shade Turret.
- Strafe from left to right.
- Blast any Covenant infantry ground forces.
- Take out the next Shade Turret.
- Head east to the small island with the three circular generators and two Shade Turrets.
- Take out the Shade Turrets.
- Take out the Brutes.
- Head northwest towards the opening hangar door.
- Ignore the two Banshees and the Watchtower.
- Hover to the side and slightly above the door.
- Fire shots at their sides.
- Follow one of the Banshees and take it out while Mickey deals with the other one.
- Choke Point 3: Engineer Hangar
- Head into the hallways behind the hangar door.
- Swing to the right.
- Blast any enemies off of the Watchtower.
- Continue northeast to the opposite end of the hallway to the exit hangar door.
- Take out the Grunt infantry.
- Speed toward the Engineer and blast him.
- Strafe around the Wraith and take it out with the Banshee.
- Head into the second hangar.
- Catch up to the Phantom.
- Avoid a head on attack with the five Banshees.
- Engage them in a fight to keep them off the Phantom while Mickey takes out the Engineer housing area.
- Drop down and secure an undamaged Banshee.
- Objective: Open all blocking doors
- Head to the closed hangar door.
- TIP: make your way to the Optican Kiosk to the west for additional health if needed.
- Return to the door and open it.
- Fly quickly into the hallway.
- Turn right.
- Boost toward the enemy Phantom.
- Ignore its Turret fire.
- Turn right again.
- Escape into the next large area.
- Choke Point 4: Kikowani Towers
- Enter the open air area of the station complex with three separate Engineer Housing Pods.
- Help Mickey finish them off in the order they display on the map.
- Avoid the clearly visible projectile green bolts of Fuel Rod Cannons and stay low to avoid the sniping attacks from the balconies.
- Head to the northwest wall of the area when your squadmates summon you.
- Use either of the pedestrian doorways to investigate the hallway and figure out how to open the hangar door.
- Enter after you are fully prepared for a fierce fight.
- Choke Point 5: Chieftain's Hallway
- Enter the hallway on foot on the offensive.
- Get the two Carbines in the Covenant supply crate on the low concrete area.
- Get the Beam RIfle from the supply crate in the corner.
- Head northeast to the set of steps.
- Investigate the right planter.
- Pick up the Plasma Pistols.
- Head east to the controller's room.
- Pick up the two Frag Grenades and a Health Pack.
- Exit the controller's room.
- Head up the steps on the right side near the entrance of the room.
- Lov a grenade at the enemy in the central area with the Plasma Turret.
- NOTE: This should also take out some Brutes, Jackals and Grunts.
- Lob in some Grenades.
- Use a Plasma Pistol to reduce the Stalker Brutes' shields.
- Back down the steps, forcing Brutes to go down with you.
- Lob Grenades up at them.
- Move into the central area.
- Head to the Optican Kiosk on the right.
- Pick up some Health Packs.
- Circle the area.
- Continue moving and firing.
- Pick up dropped weapons as needed.
- The best ones to use are Plasma weapons, Grenades and Brute Shots.
- Step back out to the concrete area during a break in the battle.
- Take a Plasma Pistol with you.
- Launch charged shots at the Brute Stalkers and Chieftain to remove their shields.
- Finish them off with a Beam RIfle headshot and Grenades.
- Spring to the center of the hall.
- Grab a Fuel Rod Cannon or the Plasma Turret to finish off the Engineer and anyone else.
- Head to the booth on the left near the end of the hallway.
- Press the button to open the door so Mickey can fly through.
- Head left out of the hallway.
- Take the first right to find a Banshee for you to use.
- Choke Point 6: Scarab Sentry
- Objective: Evade or destroy Scarab
- Enter the final chamber in the station.
- Fly to the side to evade the incoming plasma mortar shot fro mthe Scarab.
- Dodge the Phantom's plasma fire as they take off.
- Destroy the Engineer Housing Pods.
- Ignore the Grunts on the ground to the southwest and the Banshee. All of your efforts need to be focused on the Scarab.
- Follow Mickey's instructions and approach the Scarab.
- Destroy the three Engineer Housing Pods surrounding it.
- Fire on the Scarab's leg joints whenever your targeting reticle turns red.
- Keep firing until you see an explosion.
- Vary your speed and strafe your way around the Scarab in a circle.
- Once the legs are crippled, boost to the rear of the vehicle.
- Fire at its rear until the rear hull is destroyed.
- Direct your fire at the exposed energy shield until the Scarab is destroyed.
- Swap out Banshees with one of the two parked Banshees on the platform with the Scarab to end the mission.
Mission 07: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- Preferred weapons: carbine, magnum, plasma pistol, plasma rifle, sniper rifle
- Objective: Locate underground entrance to search for Captain Dare
- Choke Point 1: Kikowani Bus Terminal and Plaza
- Start at the bus terminal streets.
- Take out the few Grunts.
- Return to the Mongsoose.
- Drive to the ramped road heading southeast.
- Continue into the plaza.
- Make your way to the dead Marine.
- Pick up the two Health Packs.
- Take off quickly to get away from the two Hungers.
- Check the open building to the southeast.
- Pick up the Frag Grenade on the steps.
- Snipe the Hunters from the steps.
- Choke Point 2: Brutal Plaza
- Drive the Mongoose to the sloping road heading northeast.
- Take the exit road to the northwest.
- Get to the small plaza area.
- Toss in Sticky Grenadese at the Jump Pack Brutes before they head out.
- Finish them off with headshots.
- Take cover behind some overturned vehicles.
- Take out any approaching Brutes.
- Focus on the Chieftain with your Plasma Rifle.
- TIP: You can get more Plasma RIfles from fallen Brutes.
- TIP: Retreat to cover if you should get wounded.
- TIP: Return to Choke Point 1 for available health packs at the Optican Kiosk.
- Stay behind the concrete planter.
- Strafe around it while you direct Plasma fire at him.
- Finish him off with a headshot from your Carbine or Magnum to end the mission.
Mission 08: Data Hive
- Rookie
- Preferred weapons: flamethrower, magnum, beam rifle, carbine, gravity hammer
- Choke Point 1: Sublevel 7 Corridors
- Objective: Find Dare on Sublevel 9
- Begin at the base of the Sublevel 7 elevator shaft.
- Look for any available weapons.
- Head northeast through the sliding doors to a sloping corridor.
- Pick up any needed Shotguns.
- Turn the corner to head southeast.
- Continue down the corridor.
- Melee the Grunt from the rear.
- Turn right to face a corridor full of Grunts.
- Take cover behind the data processors.
- Use your Silenced SMG to take out the Grunts with headshots.
- Turn southeast at any of the three side doors.
- Follow the corridor to the next intersection.
- Take cover.
- Take out the Grunts and Jackals with headshots using your Magnum.
- Head northeast.
- Pass the Needler.
- Pick up a Plasma Pistol as backup to your Magnum.
- Continue right down the corridor as it slopes down.
- Take out the Grunts you meet with more headshots.
- Melee them when there are only a few left.
- Follow the corridor right again.
- Follow the slope down to a center terminal.
- Shoot any Grunts in the head.
- Gather any ammunition or Grenades on their bodies.
- Enter the narrow passage the Grunts were guarding.
- Step into the first in a series of 8-sided chambers.
- Choke Point 2: Sublevel 7 Stack-Shaft Chambers
- Inspect the first chamber.
- Head down the connecting passage to the next chamber.
- Be ready with the Plasma Pistol for some Brutes and Jackals.
- Charge a shot before you step into the chamber.
- Fire to knock down the Brutes' shields.
- Finish them off with a Magnum headshot.
- Toss a Grenade to take out the remaining enemies.
- Choke Point 3: Sublevel 8 Dark Corridor
- Switch on your VISR Enhanced Vision to find the enemies in the long corridor.
- Take out the Drones and Grunts at the beginning of the corridor.
- Take out the Brutes and Brute stalkers at the end.
- Continue down the corridor to the far end.
- Make your way to the door accessing the second series of chambers.
- Go halfway down the corridor.
- Check out the narrow subcorridor.
- Pick up Health Packs and Shotguns from the Marine bodies.
- Take down a Brute from the side in a surprise attack.
- Choke Point 4: Sublevel 8 Stack-Shaft Chambers
- Move into the next series of stack rooms.
- Take out the Drones with the Carbine.
- Pick up the Plasma Pistols and Needlers from them.
- Get the Health Pack on one of the alcove walls.
- Continue southwest.
- Take out the Jackals.
- Pick up a Health Pack from the wall of the third chamber.
- Watch out for Covenant forces heading up from the corridor to the southeast.
- Throw Flame Grenades at the Brutes as you continue to the final stack chamber.
- Inspect any alcoves for Health Packs.
- Trigger the console to raise the data stack.
- Drop down into Sublevel 9.
- Continue to lob grenades at oncoming enemies.
- Choke Point 5: Sublevel 9 -- Cold Storage Brutes
- Make sure all of the Drones are taken out.
- Head southeast out the corridor.
- Maneuver down the sloping hall.
- Arm your Plasma Pistol.
- Use a charged Plasma shot to remove the Brutes' shields.
- Switch back to the Carbine to take the Brutes out with a headshot.
- Slowly turn the corner.
- Take out the next group of Brutes in the same manner.
- Retreat to the cover of the pillars to charge your Plasma Pistol.
- Choke Point 6: Sublevel 9 -- Captain Dare Rendezvous
- Return to the corridor where you fought the Brutes.
- Collect any weapons you need.
- Don't forget to get a Flamethrower.
- Head down the sloping corridor to the southeast.
- Continue through the doors and around the bend.
- Proceed through two more doors into the dark hallway.
- Take cover behind the server structures.
- Take out the Drones, Jackals, and Brutes with the Flamethrower.
- Return to the hallway where you fought the Brutes.
- Pick up the Plasma Turret.
- Walk southwest to a connecting hallway.
- Knock on the locked door at the end of the hallway.
- Dare lets you through while your objective updates.
- Choke Point 7: Sublevel 9 -- Lower Hallways
- Objective: Fight through Hive to Data Center
- Follow Dare through the narrow hall into the larger corridor.
- Turn southeast.
- Head down the sloping path.
- Moce closely to the wall servers to use them for cover.
- Help Dare finish off the Grunts and Brutes with headshots.
- Round the corner.
- Take out the Drones, Grunts and Brute with the Carbine.
- Arm yourself with a Brute Shot or Needler.
- Take out any enemies on the path.
- Stop at the middle platform to pick up a Health Pack.
- Take out the Jackals and Brutes down the next hallway.
- Pick up a Health Pack on the way to the airlift and the Drone Hive.
- Drop down the hole.
- Continue southwest through the narrow corridor hatch doors into the wider hallway.
- Select the Brute Shot from the Covenant crate.
- Destroy the Jackals and Grunts behind cover.
- Continue through the curved corridor.
- Take out Brutes with the Shot.
- Continue to the eastern opening that leads into the Data Hive.
- Make note of the four Health Packs on the doorway in case you need them during Choke Point 8.
- Choke Point 8: Data Hive
- Step out into the Data hive.
- Pick up a Plasma Pistol and Beam RIfle from the Covenant crates.
- Stop Dare.
- Hand her a Beam Rifle.
- Follow Dare up the ramp to the southeast.
- Activate the elevator to the upper walkways.
- Follow Dare onto the catwalks.
- Get ready for a massive Drone attack.
- Stay at a distance.
- Fire your Beam RIfle on the hive holes.
- Take out all of the Drones outside the hive.
- Slowly advance and check the hive for further activity.
- Follow Dare northwest to a Covenant crate with Carbines.
- Turn right and avoid dropping down to the floor below.
- Stay on the catwalk.
- Take out the Drones that appear from another Hive.
- Continue north to the exit door betweenthe two large hives.
- TIP: Retreat if you need more ammo for your Carbine or Beam Rifle.
- Exit into the narrow corridor to update your objective.
- Objective: Rescue Superintendent
- Follow Dare and drop down another shaft.
- Choke Point 9: Data Center Entrance
- Exit into a large underground chamber.
- NOTE: Dare drops down northwest of you to face two Brute Captains and a Chieftain.
- Turn right from the balcony.
- Drop down.
- Turn right again.
- Pick up a Beam Rifle and Brute Shot from Covenant crates in the dead end hallway.
- Turn around.
- Advance up the right side of the platform on the door that the three Brutes are guarding.
- Throw a Sticky Grenade in the midst of the three to rip apart their shields.
- Finish off the Chieftain and any other Brutes with your Brute Shot.
- Objective: Escort Engineer to safety
- Choke Point 10: Data Center Escape
- Lead Vergil and Dare back to the sloping platform Data Center entrance.
- Get rid of the three Jump Pack Brutes with your Gravity Hammer.
- Work on the Grunts, Jackals and Brutes dropped by the Phantom with your Hammer too.
- Once they are thinned out, finish off the last few with Beam Rifle headshots.
- Move southwest down the exit door Buck creates.
- TIP: Make sure you lead the group so the Engineer is not taken out by Drones in the hallway to the northeast.
- Take a weapon to assassinate the Drones.
- Jump up into the ceiling and melee attack each one to finish them off.
- Pick up Health Packs at the end of the hallway.
- Wait for the Engineer to open the locked side door.
- Continue through the door first.
- Wait for your team.
- Head southwest to another door.
- Wait for the Engineer to open it.
- Hurry through the door to the next corner.
- Take out the Drones the same way you did before.
- Secure the area before the arrival of the Engineer.
- Follow the hallway to the exterior elevator to end the mission.
Mission 09: Coastal Highway
- Rookie
- NOTE: Time to rendezvous with the rest of the team and leave New Mombasa.
- Preferred weapons: sniper rifle, rocket launcher, warthog, gauss hog, scorpion
- Objective: Find elevator to highway
- Choke Point 1: Watchtower Courtyard
- Exit the Data Hive Structure.
- Head out onto the New Mombassa streets.
- Turn left towards the building marked by the number "1".
- Pass the sandbags on the left.
- Stop to pick up some Frag Grenades, a Silenced SMG and some Health Packs if you need them.
- Continue northeast towards the wrecked truck.
- Turn left just before the truck into the corridor.
- Move into the building.
- Climb the staircase.
- Head out onto the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
- Pick up the Sniper Rifle.
- Aim southeast to take out as many enemies with headshots as you can, especially any that are close to Dare and the Engineer.
- Once the area is clear of ground enemies, aim at the four Grunts on the Watchtower until they are all taken out.
- Drop down and work your way around the left side of the planters in the courtyard.
- Finish off the Covenant forces near the flatbed truck.
- Head over to the sandbags.
- Pick up the two Rocket Launchers, Ammo Packs, Health Pack and Assault RIfles.
- Use the Launcher to take out the Brutes and Chieftains behind cover.
- NOTE: Dare and the Engineer head northeast to the second empty courtyard.
- Wait for Dare.
- Activate your VISR Enhanced Vision to see the darkened corridor.
- Move to the elevator inside.
- Wait for the Engineer to give you access to the highway exterior.
- After a heated discussion, your objective updates.
- Objective: Escort and protect Dare's vehicle
- Highway Drive: Preparation
- NOTE: Dare and the Engineer are safely ensconsed in the armored Olifant. You and Buck must protect them as you proceed along the Coastal highway.
- Drive the Warthog while Buck takes the gunner's seat.
- Choke Point 2: Highway Section 99
- Wait for Buck to join you from the driver's seat of the Warthog.
- Race along the highway's left side.
- Dodge any wreckage.
- Pass the entrance to the off ramp in the middle of the road.
- Ram a swarm of Grunts in the second half of the section.
- Use your brake to make quick turns.
- Make sure that Buck has a clear shot at the necessary targets.
- Stay close to the Olifant.
- Drive on the highway's left side.
- Stay away from the Median to avoid flipping the Warthog.
- The first set of blast doors on the highway will open once the Olifant reaches it.
- Slow down at the first set of doors.
- Pick up the Rocket Launcher by the dead Marine in the middle of the road in front of the doors.
- Health is available here too at the Optican Kiosk between the two doors.
- Swap Warthogs if your's has sustained any damage.
- Choke Point 3: Highway Section 98
- NOTE: This section of highway is a bit sharper than before. There is no off ramp to recharge Stamina.
- Park the Warthog a distance from the doors.
- Get out of the vehicle.
- Replenish supplies, health and weapons so the Olifant does not continue into the next section of highway until you are guarding it.
- Equip the Rocket Launcher before the second blast door slides open.
- Enter the blast door area.
- The second set will open once both vehicles arrive.
- Choke Point 4: Highway Section 97
- Immediately take cover behind your Warthog as the door opens.
- Take out the first Watchtower with a Rocket.
- With the first Watchtower exploding, drive to the next and repeat the process.
- Continue this process with the third and fourth Watchtowers.
- Pass the last Watchtower.
- Stay back from the exit blast doors at the end of the section of highway.
- Make sure Buck has appropriate shooting angles to target the Drones flying towards you as the doors open.
- Stop and park the Warhog if Buck needs help.
- Grab the Assault Rifle and Rocket Launcher from the supply crate.
- Head to the back of the vehicle.
- Help Buck with both until all of the Drones are destroyed.
- Head to the Optican Kiosk once the Drones are destroyed if you need to heal.
- Choke Point 5: Highway Section 96
- NOTE: This section of highway does not feature an off ramp.
- Use wreckage for cover to replenish Stamina.
- Ram all of the Covenant infantry to allow Buck the best aiming angles.
- Swap for an undamaged Warthog at the end of the section if you need it.
- Replenish your health at the Optican Kiosk.
- Choke Point 6: Highway Section 95
- Spot the Covenant cruiser and Phantom as soon as you enter the area.
- Focus on the five ground Ghosts inthe middle of the section, close to the fallen Phantom.
- TIP: There is no offramp in this section. Regain Stamina behind cover.
- Accelerate quickly to get out in front of the Olifant.
- Grab the dropped Fuel Rod Cannon near the Phantom.
- Return and let Buck take out Ghosts from behind its cover.
- Disembark from the Warthog.
- Fire your Cannon at the Ghosts.
- Once the area is clear, search southwest of the empty Warthog for Health Packs.
- Disembark at the next set of blast doors.
- Swap your Warthog for a Gauss Warthog.
- Restore health at the Optican Kiosk if necessary.
- Choke Point 7: Highway Section 94
- Move forward along the highway to allow Buck to blast Banshees from the Warthog's Gauss Turret.
- Increase your speed when the Banshees head your way.
- Head to the off ramp entrance.
- Use it for cover.
- Drive in and out while Buck takes out the Banshees and Ghosts.
- Continue to the next blast door.
- Restore health at the Optican Kiosk if necessary.
- Choke Point 8: Highway Section 93
- Ignore the far-off Scarab.
- Speed forward while Buck takes out the Banshees.
- Drive the the midpoint of the highway as Buck takes out the Wraith.
- Keep moving so you are not an easy target.
- Take care of the remaining Banshees once the Wraith are disposed of.
- Disembark.
- Collect some health from the Optican Kiosk.
- Enter the Scorpion Tank for the remainder of the mission.
- Choke Point 9: Highway Section 92
- Emerge from the blast doors.
- Continue ahead of the Olifant in the Scorpion.
- Use the Scorpion's main cannon to destroy Shade Turrets as early as possible.
- Once they are destroyed, move toward the off ramp entrance.
- Strafe to the side.
- Use the off ramp as cover to shoot the Wraith from a distance until it is destroyed.
- Finish your patrol at the far end of the highway with another Shade Turret.
- Let Buck handle the Banshees while you take care of the rest.
- Get to the next set of blast doors.
- Accelerate into the next section as far ahead of the Olifant as possible.
- Choke Point 10: Highway Section 91
- Head out of the blast doors.
- Turn the cannon 90 degrees to the right.
- Track the first of the four Phantoms.
- As soon as you get a red target reticle, begin firing.
- TIP: Each Phantom will require four shots.
- Maintain speed with the Phantoms so they do not escape.
- Spray their structure until they explode.
- Move onto the next and repeat the process.
- TIP: Any missed Phantoms will disappear over the blast doors and deposit two Ghosts at Choke Point 11.
- Take Health from the Optican Kiosk if you need it.
- Choke Point 11: Highway Section 90
- Have your Scorpion's cannon ready when the blast doors open.
- Take out the first Shade Turret immediately.
- Fire on the Shade Turrets in the middle of the highway.
- Head to the exit blast doors.
- TIP: Expect two Ghosts for every Phantom you missed at Choke Point 10.
- Pick up the Silenced SMGs at the blast doors if you need them.
- Head to the Optican Kiosk if you need to restore your health.
- Choke Point 12: Highway Sections 89 and 88
- Ignore the Scarab in the distance.
- Run over the infantry units.
- Train your cannon on the Brute Chieftain in the middle with a Fuel Rod Cannon.
- Hop off your vehicle as you near the blast doors.
- Take out the Jump Pack Brutes with a headshot.
- NOTE: There is a giant Scarab on top of the blast doors that drains the Olifant's shields on its way north into the city. The Olifant survives the attack to enter the last blast door.
- Catch up to teh Olifant.
- Head inside.
- Grab any Health Packs if you need them from the Optican Kiosk.
- Head into the third highway section.
- Drive your vehicle down the off ramp.
- Park your vehicle.
- Follow your ODST instructions to exit at this rendezvous point.
- NOTE: The Uplift Reserve consists of two upper parking lots and the northern entrance.
- Head north across the roundabout with the bus stop while your team provides cover support.
- Get the two Frag Grenades in the gazebo.
- Head over to the Covenant supply crate.
- Pick up one of the Carbine RIfles.
- Execute the Grunts at the entrance.
- Choke Point 13: Uplift Reserve Entrance -- Extraction Point
- Objective: Defend Engineer until friendly Phantom arrives
- Lead Dare and the Engineer into the Uplift Reserve entrance to hold out.
- NOTE: A Phantom flies overhead over the central courtyard to drop off enemies at the south side of the gazebo bus stop. They work their way north to try to attack the Engineer.
- Expect the following waves of enemies:
- Phantom dropping Grunts and Brutes: Utilize the high ground above the entrance to peer over and blast away. It is best to use Turrets to rake enemies as they emerge from Phantoms or fire a Rocket as they first reach the ground. Finish them off with a Sniper Rifle.
- Phantom dropping Jackals: Thin out the Jackals with a Grenade. Finish them off with a Sniper RIfle. Search the area for a Beam RIfle and restore your health before the next wave.
- Phantom dropping Hunters: Take out the Hunters with Turret Fire. Use the high ground over the entrance to peer over and take out the remainder.
- Wraiths on the upper highway: Retreat behind cover. Avoid the Wraith mortar attacks. Ignore them until the end of the mission.
- Phantom dropping Brutes and Brute Chieftain with Gravity Hammer: Choose your favorite weapon. Take cover behind a pillar to avoid his hammer.
- Defend the Engineer through all the waves to successfully end the mission.
Mission 10: Mombasa Streets
- Rookie
- NOTE: This final mission unlocks after completing Coastal Highway. It entails all of the new Mombasa Streets that are accessible as play by Rookie. It is basically a hub where you can access the majority of your other missions.
- Begin in your Pod after your crash landing, just as in Mission 1.
- You are then free to maneuver throughout New Mombasa, defeating enemies and finding clues just as in the earlier playthrough.
- NOTE: All previously found COMM Terminals and cahces are added and automatically appear in your inventory.
- TIP: This mission is the easiest way to finish your collections, and to find and activate any clue objects, as well as to replay any appropriate missions.
- Things to Do in Mission 10
- Find out of the way alleys and interiors to gather additional items.
- Travel to Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, Kizingo Boulevard, ONI Alpha Site, NMPD Headquarters, or Kikowani Station to find clues.
- Continue your search for the 29 available COMM Terminals with hidden data. Once you have found all 29 terminals, head back to Mission 9 to locate the 30th terminal necessary to complete the collectible hunt.
