There is a new Hornet aircraft (a.k.a. “Snow Hornet”) included in the Legendary Map Pack for Halo 3. The updated Hornet is in the Avalanche Map, a wide open snow-filled map conducive to vehicle combat. Avalanche is the first multiplayer map to support the Hornet as a default vehicle, but due to gameplay issues several changes have been made to the Hornet: the homing missiles have been removed, the exterior has been been camouflaged white, and the chain gun power has also been diminished. These changes to the Hornet essentially change its function from a powerful long-distance assault aircraft (capable of easily destroying a Banshee), to more a transportation vehicle.
