Blackout is the name of one of the maps included in the Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack. The map is a remake of the Halo 2 map Lockout. It retains the same layout structure as Lockout with multiple levels of platforms, but the location has changed to the UNSC research station, which is a drilling platform. This map is based in the Arctic and unlike its predecessor the map now has equipment and more grenades. Blackout was codenamed Moonlight Sonata during production (possibly referencing the Castevania game of the same title) because of its dark and gloomy nighttime sky. The other two new maps included are Avalanche and Ghost Town.
