The degree that you want your ceremony to be dark or ghoulish or just non-traditional are all up to the couple. Since this is a relatively new concept, you are pretty free to create a ceremony from start to finish that matches your level of Halloween participation.

Some couples go with a dark ceremony but a traditional reception. White and black bridal cakes are common. For the more ghoulish look, a red velvet cake with traditional cream cheese frosting with black roses make a beautiful tiered cake. If you want your cake to ooze a little raspberry gel then that will create a different look altogether.

Another way of having a different and unique Hallowedding is to hold it at one of the local haunted houses set up for Halloween. Arizona Scream Fest was the setting for one Phoenix couple's Hallowedding. The monsters were presenting the bride and some of the monsters were in the actual wedding party. All the attendants dressed in black and white or black and pink dresses and the best man was in bondage pants and a tux tee shirt. The bridal gown was a satin black and white sleeveless formal gown with black veil.

Each couple can embrace all the aspects of the traditional wedding that appeals to them and also bring in exactly the level of Halloween they want. Fangs, wings and costumes are all options at a Hallowedding.

Hand fasting ceremonies have become less denominational ceremonies that have been known to occur on Halloween. This is done during the ring blessing portion of the ceremony. Pagan in origin, these ceremonies have become a more requested method of joining together over the years.
