Hal Sparks is an American actor, comedian and in a rock music group founded under the name, The Hal Sparks Band. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but grew up in Peak Mill, Kentucky and later Chicago. He went to school at New Trier High School. While living in Chicago he began his performing career as a member of the teenage troupe of the famed Second City improve group. He was also the host of the syndicated children's game show Treasure Mall. About the same time he landed his first acting role on television in the fairy tale, Frog. Upon graduating, he drove to California and now lives in North Hollywood. During the next ten years he was involved in numerous interests he had acquired.
Turn Around
His acting debut occurred in Chopper Chicks in Zombieland. He played the part of a blind, Uzi-toting orphan. Hal Sparks landed a few small roles in films such as Dicki Roberts: Former Child Star, and Spider Man 2, where he was the man in the elevator who said "Nice suit!" His most notable role was in Dude, Where's My Car? as Zoltan the head of a bunch of nerds who were obsessed with outer space. He became one of the youngest celebrity hosts on the short-lived children's game show, Treasure Mall. In less than a year he undertook his most challenging role as Michael, a semi-closeted gay man coping with his friends and his overbearing mother in the British hit Queer As Folk.
Hal To Zero
His band, The Hal Sparks Band is now called Zero 1. His musical experience paid off as a contestant in the first season of Celebrity Duets. He likes to join in with the cover band Metal Skool, to sing Skid Row songs. The debut album by Zero 1 was released in December 2006 and is now available on iTunes and Halsparks.com.
