Hal Holbrook is an American actor who has been in b Broadway, television and film productions since the 1950s. Holbrook was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the 2008 Academy Awards for his work on Sean Penn's Into the Wild. Javier Bardem took home the Academy Award that year for his performance in No Country for Old Men. Holbrook has performed in a number of movies, including All The President's Men as Deep Throat.

Holbrook played Ron Franz, an elderly man who befriends the protagonist and forms a meaningful relationship with the young man, played by Emile Hirsch. For his critically acclaimed role in the film, Holbrook earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination. -
