Hakim Warrick is a professional basketball player in the NBA who currently plays the forward position. Warrick was born July 8, 1982 and played for the Syracuse Orangemen during his collegiate career. Warrick is known as one of the greatest dunkers in Syracuse history and his size and length made him nearly impossible to guard in the painted area. One of Hakim’s favorite offensive move was the drop step and spin where he would finish with either a dunk or sometimes a finger roll.
Hakim Warrick would continue to grow during his four years at Syracuse racking up several accolades along the way
- Big East Player of The Year
- All Big East Selection (twice)
- Most Improved Player
- Big East Tournament MVP
Despite Warrick’s offensive capabilities, the one play that he will probably be remembered for, came on the defensive end of the floor. In the 2003 national title game against the Kansas Jayhawks, Hakim Warrick would come out of nowhere to block a seemingly wide open three point attempt by Mike Lee that would have potentially tied the game. This defensive play helped secure Syracuse’s first national title in school history. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2794
Hakim Warrick 2009-10 Season
Hakim Warrick began the 2009-2010 season as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks after playing his first four seasons in the league for the Memphis Grizzlies. Around the time of the trading deadline, Chicago began to explore how to part ways with disgruntled forward Tyrus Thomas and better position the team from a salary cap standpoint. Fortunately for the Chicago Bulls, Warrick became expendable around the trade deadline and Warrick was traded to the Bulls in a deal that sent John Salmons to the Bucks and Tyrus Thomas to the Bobcats. Hakim Warrick has played relatively well for the Chicago Bulls averaging nearly ten points per game and makes the most of his time by playing hard on both ends; something that Tyrus Thomas did not do as his playing time begin to decrease. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/349680-bulls-newest-will-contribute-to-team
