Guy Pearce is an English born Australian actor who has starred in such films as The Time Machine, L.A. Confidential, Ravenous, Rules of Engagement and Memento.
Life and Career
Guy Pearce was born in Cambridgeshire, England to a school teacher and an air force test pilot. His father died when he was nine. He moved to Geelong, Australia when he was three, and his mother took up deer farming.
At the age of 16, Pearce became involved with body building and eventually won the title of Mr. Natural Victoria.
His acting career gained momentum when he landed a role on the Australian soap opera Neighbors in 1985. He stayed on the show for a number of years but broke free from the soap opera mold when he starred in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994. After that, he appeared in a string of Hollywood films, which include The Time Machine, L.A. Confidential, Ravenous, and Rules of Engagement. However, it was his role in Christopher Nolan's Memento that earned him wide recognition within the film industry.
In 2008, he stars in Winged Creatures opposite Kate Beckinsale, Dakota Fanning and Forrest Whitaker.
