Gun Walkthrough-Pony Express Side Missions

The Pony Express side missions within GUN, a western themed video game set during the late 1800s, are an addition to the game's main story line.http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gun/review.html?tag=summary%3Bread-review  In these side missions, Colton "Cole" White, the game's Apache protagonist, needs to successfully deliver emergency packages or messages to designated people within the game world under a strict time limit. Successful completion of all of the Pony Express side missions will earn the unlockable Silver Spurs.http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/gun/hints.html  Horse health and spur are also increased with the successful completion of these missions, and individual cash rewards are provided after successful completion of each individual task.

The Pony Express officers for these side missions are available within both Dodge and Empire cities.http://guides.ign.com/guides/758695/page_29.html  In order to meet each missions's deadline, you will need to spur your horse fairly often. You can spur your horse until it is nearly dead. If the target is not reached within the allotted timeframe, the mission ends without your character achieving its cash reward. When receiving the set of instructions provided by the in-game non-playable-characters (NPCs), it is helpful to take the nearby fresh horse. This not only saves time searching for a fresh horse, but also saves time in the performance of the timed mission.

Gun Walkthrough-Pony Express Side Mission Tips

You will need to mount and dismount your horse quickly to complete the missions within the allotted time frames. Practice mounting and maneuvering a horse prior to beginning the Pony Express missions.

To mount a horse, walk over to it and press the use key. Move on horseback using the same movement keys as those used when Cole is travelling on foot. Pressing the use key a second time to dismount Cole from the horse. To save time, you may dismount from a full sprint without damaging your character. You will need to do this to successfully complete the Pony Express side missions. Dropping from heights, however, will both damage your character and your horse.

Pony Express side missions later in the game will require making your way through armed enemies. There is not sufficient time to stop and fight. Take out enemies with your rifle while your horse continues to run.
