The Federal Marshal side missions, identified as Rescue Missions in the western-themed video game Gun, are not vital to the game's story line. They do, however, provide bonuses that increase your character's Gunhand, Quickdraw and Melee stats.http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/gun/guide/  In these side missions, Colton "Cole" White, the game's Apache protagonist, is tasked with keeping Empire City's citizens safe from wrongdoers. 

The first of the Federal Marshal side missions is unlocked after successful completion of Gun's "Whore Coach" mission. Talk to the Federal Marshal in front of Hoodoo's Casino to begin each one. Missions include killing bandits, rescuing missing medical supplies and hostages, and locating lost coaches. Each part of the seven Federal Marshal side missions must be completed to receive the reward for the entire mission.http://guides.ign.com/guides/760419/page_26.html  Successful completion of each of these missions, in addition to the Pat Denton side missions, earns the Keeper of the Peace achievement. Colton earns cash rewards after completing individual missions in addition to increasing your character's stats.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Whore Coach" mission.           

• The Miller Gang is on their way to Empire City.
• Ride your horse east to the corner where the Empire City shop clerk is located.
• Continue to the back alley behind the building.
• Climb the stairs and jump onto the roof.
• Throw the barrels of TNT into the intersection. 
• Spread them around to cause the most damage.
• Once the gang spots you, take as many of them out with your rifle from the rooftop as possible.
• Jump down and use Quickdraw to take any of the remaining seven out.
• If any of the gang escape the ambush, you fail the mission.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Law and Order" mission.           

• Smallpox vaccines have been stolen and need to be recovered. The vaccines are being hidden on some East Empire rooftops.
• Head due east to the end of the road near the Empire City shopkeeper.
• Equip your rifle.
• Circle around the buildings.
• Pick off all of the renegades with your rifle.
• Climb the ladder leaning against the building near the stream.
• Use the planks as bridges to work your way across the rooftops.
• If you were not able to kill all of the thieves earlier, one of them will man the Gatling Gun on the last rooftop.
• Use Quickdraw to take him out with a headshot if needed.
• Jump over the Gatling Gun onto the roof.
• Retrieve the vaccine.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Law and Order" mission.      

• You have been tasked with rescuing some Chinese miners who are being held hostage in the Badlands mine.
• Jump onto a horse and follow the compass east to the Badlands.
• Enter the mine.
• Use Quickdraw to take out the enemies standing in front of the TNT barrels with headshots.
• Do not use your shotgun. 
• Be sure not to accidentally hit the barrels.
• An explosion that kills the captives will fail the mission.
• Once the first chamber is cleared, continue down the corridor and to the left.
• Quickdraw the final two enemies.
• Once they are dead, you have completed the mission successfully.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Law and Order" mission.

• The Dodge City stagecoach has not arrived. Colton needs to follow the coach's route to find them.
• Jump onto a horse.
• Head due east outside of Dodge to Ten Fingers Canyon.
• Talk to the stagecoach driver. He says all is well, but he is really one of the outlaw gang members. 
• At that point, a woman screams for help.
• Take out the driver before he can grab the woman.
• Kill the man standing in front of the carriage.
• Quickdraw kill the three gang members who ride in from Dodge.
• Talk to the legitimate driver. He tells you that a large rock is barricading the path to Dodge and he needs you to clear the path.
• Head east.
• Climb the grassy slope up to the stony ledge.
• Drop one of the TNT barrels onto the boulder.
• Clear the path to end the mission.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Ambush the Train" mission.

• Jump on your horse and head east to the Badlands to check on the O'Malley wagon train.
• The wagon train is in the midst of a circle where the buffalo are usually found, being attacked by renegade horsemen.
• The easiest way to take care of the renegades is to stomp them out with your horse, but you can also take them out with your rifle or Quickdraw.
• It will take stomping through three waves of half a dozen enemies to end the mission.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Ambush the Train" mission.

• Colton is tasked with escorting Wachowski, the opium dealer, to the local jail.
• Get a horse.
• Head to the livery.
• Locate Wachowski at the livery dressed like a lawman. He is hiding, so will not be marked on your map.
• Talk to him briefly, and begin making our way to the jail.
• Wachowski has a change of heart once you arrive at the jail.
• As five gunmen approach from the road to the north, they will begin a shoot out.
• Use Quickdraw to take them out, or stomp them with your horse.
• Grab Wachowski and push him into one of the jail cells.
• Two waves of gunmen will attack the jail. Watch the Deputy's health bar carefully as he must not die.
• Head outside and Quickdraw these first two waves of 5-6 men.
• Use your horse to stomp them if possible.
• When the third wave of enemies appears around the side of the jail, take them out with some dynamite.
• The mission ends as soon as the enemies have been eliminated.

Unlocked after successful completion of the "Attack the Fort" mission.

• During this night mission, Colton needs to assist a stranded family is being attacked by wolves.
• Head to the Dodge City bridge.
• Locate the family near some dead horses.
• Take out the several dozen wolves that approach from the north and west with your Ferguson rile.
• Another wave comes in as soon as the existing wolves are killed.
• As soon as all the wolves have been disposed of, ignite the hay bales with whiskey bombs.
• Your fire bow will not work. There are, however, crates of whiskey bombs littering the area.
• Throw whiskey bombs from horseback and ignite all of the hay bales indicated on the compass.
• Once the bales are on fire, and the wolves are disposed of, the mission ends.
