Gulf of Finland

The Gulf of Finland is a 29,500 square kilometer body of water that is located on the Eastern most part of the Baltic Sea. It borders with Finland to the north, Estonia to the south and Saint Petersburg, Russia to the east.Baltic Marine Environment Bibliography: Gulf of Finland

The gulf is 428 Kilometers long, 120 kilometers wide, its mouth is 75 kilometers across. On the eastern-most side, the gulf narrows and feeds into the Gulf of Kronstadt. Several island formations sit in the Gulf of Finland, the largest of which being Gogland, Tyters, Lavansaari and Seiskari.

The currents run eastward on the top of the Gulf, and westward on the bottom.
