  • The Gulf of Alaska stretches from the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, to the Alexander Archipelago where Glacier Bay National Park and the Inside Passage are found. Both the Malaspina Glacier and Bering Glacier lie on the coast along the Gulf of Alaska, these are the two largest glaciers in the entire state. In 1958, Lituya Bay was the site of the largest Tsunami in recorded history. 31 years later, another tragedy, the Exxon-Valdez Oil Spill occurred in Prince William Sound dumping over 11 million barrels of crude oil into the water.
