Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits for the Nintendo DS has been confirmed, but possibly not in the manner intended by the game's publisher, Activision. The ESRB, or Entertainment Software Rating Board, added the game to their list of rated games before it was officially announced.

On the ESRB website, the rating information also provides clues to some of the songs contained in the game. Lyrics are provided to songs that contain potentially violent references. A quick online search reveals these songs to be Franz Ferdinand's "The Fallen," Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" and Sum 41's "Still Waiting."ESRB: ESRB Game Ratings

  • Old News

The ESRB information was not entirely a surprise because Activision had registered a trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a mysterious game titled Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits in October 2008. The application stated that the game would be "comprised of a cartridge or DVD," thus confirming that it would be an actual retail game and not downloadable content.1up.com: Activision Working on Guitar Hero Modern Hits? • The Final Game?

Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits is expected to be one of the final Guitar Hero titles for the Nintendo DS. The new DSi console, expected sometime in 2009, does not have a Game Boy Advance cartridge slot and will therefore be incompatible with the existing Guitar Hero DS peripheral.
