This page contains walkthroughs, faqs and guides for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, the third installment in the popular Guitar Hero music series developed by Neversoft and Harmonix for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC and Mac OS X.
Players use a guitar-shaped controller to simulate playing several instruments by playing in conjunction with notes that are scrolling on the screen. Co-op Career Mode and various challenges pit players against both in-game characters and other players.http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/home/928520.html
The initial release included 70 songs, most of which are master tracks. Additional content that you can download and is available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions feature the ability to download additional songs.http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/puzzle/guitarhero/news.html
Gameplay
Similar to prior series titles, players strike notes in time to the music while scrolling down towards the bottom of the screen to continue performing and earning points. With the guitar controller, press the strum bar and hold the correct fret buttons. Conversely, on the standard controller, press the correct buttons but there is no need to strum.
Notes are sustained during the time the fret button is depressed. Notes can also combine to form two to four note chords. If you miss a note, the performance meter falls. Once the meter falls to a certain level, the song is considered failed and your band is booed from the stage. Completing a successful string of ten consecutive notes earns a multiplier that increases the score. This can occur up to four consecutive times.
Starred notes indicate special sections that can be used to build Star Power. Activating Star Power doubles the scoring multiplier and causes the performance meter to increase more quickly when a correct note is hit. Missing notes also have a lower penalty.
Difficulty Levels
Easy: Uses three fret buttons
Medium: Uses four fret buttons
Hard: Uses five fret buttons
Expert: Uses five fret buttons and ups the number of notes and the general difficulty.
Characters
The cast includes thirteen different characters. Players are able to access the three boss characters -- Tom Morello, Slash, Lou the Devil -- as playable characters once their Boss Battles have been completed successfully in Career mode.
Practice Makes Perfect
Before following a walkthrough, bear in mind that for games like Guitar Hero III, nothing can act as a substitute for your own learned skills. The best tip you can get is to abuse practice mode, perfecting your ability to play a song without being disqualified for missing too many notes. Practice Mode also allows you to slow the song down, which is critical for learning to play sections with lots of notes in rapid succession or tricky runs of hammer-ons and pull-offs. While practicing is not the most fun aspect of the game, it is extremely useful helping you beat a song that you're stuck on and advancing your Guitar Hero skills to the next levelhttp://www.cheatcc.com/psx2/guitarherocheatscodes.html
