Neversoft and Harmonix developed Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for several different gaming systems: Xbox360, Wii, PlayStation 2, Mac Osx and PlayStation 3. The original release contained 71 basic songs,which are all primarily master tracks. Additional titles can be downloaded through the system's Internet connection.

Guitar Hero lll includes a guitar-shaped controller with color-coded frets and a strumming bar that players use to coordinate with the colors on the screen. Each song has varying degrees of difficulty as the song plays. In Easy Mode, you will play with only three of the five color bars. Medium mode requires play with four of the colors, and Hard utilizes each of the five color fret bars.

You are able to initially choose your gameplay character from a selection of several characters. Additional special characters are accessed by playing and beating the game's bosses. The bosses are beaten by completing various challenges that are presented throughout the game. Once a boss has been defeated, then that boss becomes available as a playable character.

As you use the Practice Mode, you will learn the frets and become more comfortable with the game. This Practice Mode is what will take you from beginner to the next level. Each level will help you become more accustomed to the details of the game's controller moves.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features a diverse list of songs spanning various musical genres. Modern alternative, classic rock, heavy metal, punk, and various others are all covered in the more than 71 songs available for the game. Even if nothing in the list appeals to you, the developers of the game frequently release new downloadable content, meaning that new songs and new genres will be included as time goes on.
