Canadian professional ice hockey player Guillaume Latendresse plays right wing in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens. An aggressive hard-hitting forward, Latendresse led all NHL rookies in hits at the close of his first season in 2006-2007.
Latendresse was drafted by the Canadiens during the second round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. After demonstrating his skills at the Canadiens' 2006 training camp, Latendresse was signed for three years at $850,000 per year, which is the maximum salary for NHL rookies.
Upon joining the Canadiens, Latendresse donned jersey number 84. He was the first player in NHL history to wear the number and it was the last number to have not previously been worn by an NHL player.
