  • The guava, native to the Caribbean and South America is a round or pear-shaped fruit with a thin green/yellow or pink/red rind, and a creamy white or orange flesh. It contains numerous small seeds and has an odor similar to apples and rose petals.

    The whole fruit is edible but many people cut out the seeds. The pulp is sweet in the center and sour in the outer layer and peel.

    Guava is a versatile fruit, raw, dried or cooked, and is used in relishes and sauces, desserts, preserves, and tea. Guava juice is popular in Africa and Central America.
