Growing Pains was a popular American sitcom broadcast on ABC from 1985 to 1992. The show aired for seven seasons and two made for television reunion movies were filmed after the show ended.
The show was about the life of the Seaver family, headed by father, Jason, played by Alan Thicke and mother, Maggie, played by Joanna Kerns. At the time of the show's debut, stay-at-home fathers and working mothers were becoming common, and the show reflected that as Maggie went to work each day as a journalist, while Jason, a psychologist, worked from home so that he was there for their 3 kids: bookworm Carol (Tracey Gold), rambunctious Ben (Jeremy Miller) and the mischievous Mike (Kirk Cameron), whose misadventures were arguably the main draw of the series.
As the kids grew older, Jason and Maggie had another child, Chrissy Seaver (Ashley Johnson), and took in a homeless teen, Luke Brower (Leonardo DiCaprio) to maintain ratings. After the show ended, the cast of the show reunited in 2000 for The Growing Pains Movie, and in 2004 for Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088527/plotsummary
