  • History

Edward Droste started the band after spending 15 months in his Brooklyn apartment making songs on a tape recorded. These early recordings, enhanced with the aid of Chicago multi-instrumentalist Christopher Bear, became the first Grizzly Bear record - 2004's Horn of Plenty. Though Droste had initially intended the record as a personal project, likely only for his friends and himself, it was released to the public on 2004 by Kanine Records.

In 2005, Rossen and Taylor joined the band and the debut album was reissued, now featuring new remixes from Dntel, Final Fantasy and others. The full band recorded the follow-up album, Yellow House, released in 2006. An EP, Friend, followed in 2007, featuring guests Band of Horses, Beirut and Dirty Projectors.

The band's next album, Veckatimest, will reportedly be released in May.
