    A stunning trauma arrives in the emergency room with a boy entombed in cement, after succumbing to a dare by "friends," to impress a girl.

    Meredith Grey has given her powerful pink sparkle pager to Dr. Yang so that she will won't have to beg Dr. Hahn for operating room time. Dr. Yang steps up to the plate in a dramatic surgical encounter with the boy who was encased in cement that leaves Dr. Hahn bewildered and her role as a teaching surgeon is in question and in jeopardy.

    Rebecca slits her wrists while in the care of Dr. Karev and he is in denial about the severity of her situation. Dr. Stevens makes the bold move to impose a psychiatric evaluation on her against Dr. Karev's wishes and she is placed in an institution so that she can receive the help that she needs.

    Dr. Torres is unnerved by the kiss from Dr. Hahn on the previous episode and comes to the realization that she is eager to continue in a gay relationship with Dr. Hahn.

    Dr. Grey and Dr. Shepard are in jeopardy of having their clinical trial closed down due to the deaths of their patients, but find success when their thirteenth patient survives. Dr. Grey has a psychiatric breakthrough on the reasons for her angst. She outlines the proposed home she desires to build with Dr. Shepard with lighted candles and he understands that she is finally making a commitment to him.
